  • Official: Mikel Arteta is the new Arsenal manager.

Back him.
Your celebrated Klopp finished 8th in his first season at Liverpool. Pep finished 3rd, 15 points behind Chelsea, and well behind Spurs. The English commentators laughed at him and said the Premier League isn’t the joke leagues of Germany and Spain. And then success followed. Yes both men had greater pedigree but Pep also once had no pedigree and achieved great success when backed at Barca. Arteta comes in with big expectations. Let’s align our support to those expectations.

We don't trust him with four years immediately. But we need to let him have a long-term plan, back that, and if we don't see progress we abandon it and look elsewhere.

And he has already shown some glimpses of promise. Just back him totally, even if he fails we should still hire another manager who will continue an attractive brand of football so all the plan we built up can continue. A bit like how RB Leipzig and Salzburg does their jobs.

Yeah, the whole "backing" thing shouldn't be that dependent on who the head coach is anymore.

Get the players that we as a club believe will fit our long term philosophy.

Of course this hinges enormously on whether Raul, Edu and Co are up to snuff...

Arteta gets an 8/10 for me.

Getting close to top 4 would have been a 9, and making top 4 a 10.

You could argue he loses points for some lack of creative play, but then he gains it back for giving youth a chance.

Overall, no one could have predicted winning a trophy and qualifying for Europe when he took over, the season was done. Very pleased to have him. Let's push on now.

More trophies than Kane & Pochettino put together

LOL. Pretty much.

He has made us look more capable and prepared in big games than ive seen us for a long time. Give him a few more of the pieces he wants and lets see what happens

Gazza. We played the top 3 team in the past month. Two of those games were elimination matches. We won all 3. It’s been close to a decade since we could perform like that in big games. I’m beyond thrilled.

This = along with The Cup this is a very strong end to the season despite the league position.

Arteta gets 8/10 from me too. He's a real manager, that much is obvious. We need to back him big time in the transfer market. The improvements he has made to us in big games is ridiculous. We are almost unrecognisable in the fact we are up for every challenge and up for winning. We have wasted 1.5 years under Emery, imagine if we didn't balls out and appointed Arteta from the get go.

There's no real identity to the team, kinda like zidane but if it gets us success I don't really care.

Today:10/10. Tomorrow, probably 7-8/10.

He’s already won more than Poch with a team worse than anything Poch managed. That counts for a lot.

Beat SU, City and Chelsea to do it too, we didn’t get lucky with the draw.

There’s lots of things he needs to work on but he’s got us looking competitive in games and that’s a really good foundation to build on.

Klaus, you willing to show him the money now?

This also gets the ghost of AW past off the team and removes the Pep-lite description from Arteta.

I think he just made sure that there is any money at all. I don't want to think about what would've happened if we had lost this game.

Quality manager. I can see him getting better and better.

He’s one of those eat what you kill guys. Remember Pochettino looking down on domestic cups? Absurd attitude. Our players can take a few weeks off now with a good feeling, and something to build on
