It seems to me that this is just Arsenal fucking up as usual. They've had the entire window to make a deal happen and you're telling me they were unaware that we were going to have to pay up for Mari when Edu personally went and brought him to London? That was three days ago. Even when he was in the airport all the articles coming out of Brazil said it was going to be a permanent deal, and they were quoting the Flamengo president.

Which is exactly why I think it's your usual BS news outlets jumping to conclusions based on flimsy circumstantial evidence and phantom anon sources. These alleged last min hiccups happen with every single transfer, so I find it hard to take it seriously.

Flamengo seem to think differently though and claim, according to Brazilian sources, that we were trying to change the deal into a loan. I don't think that's flimsy or unsubstantiated. The main outlet reporting it is a Flamengo news site that has direct lines to the club and they're quoting a director. Brazilian fans seem to think they're credible.

This is reminiscent of last January when we needed a midfielder and all we could do was to get Denis Suarez on a pointless loan because we couldn't, or wouldn't, pay any real fees. Sven Mislintat left that same month.

An unnamed director, it should be pointed out. I'll take it with a pinch of salt, for now.

I would really rather this were a loan with an option to buy, so if that's not possible because Flamengo, understandably, want to make some money now, then that's fine. Let it go or pay the money if you really rate him.

An unnamed director, but a known media source that is credible in Brazil. It's like when Ornstein used to come out with insider quotes from Arsenal.

I'm not sure I've ever seen Ornstein quote an unnamed source. He might say he's heard from persons in the club or whatever, but to quote someone in full and then hide who they are seems more like a Daily Mail move or some other such rag of a media outlet.

Ornstein's entire shtick was that he'd retell information straight from his sources at the club, and no one questioned whether it came from the club or not because they knew he was a mouthpiece. Whether he put some of it in quotes or not doesn't seem that relevant to me.

Perhaps Arsenal were convinced they could negotiate a loan with an option to buy, but Flamengo sensed they could earn some cash from the rich English club and wouldn't agree to anything othe than a permanent sale, as is their right.

We had £40m for the season and spent it in the summer. Overspent initially but then balanced the books with Iwobi. Ramsey really screwed us leaving on a free we've had a gaping hole in midfield since we cant afford a big replacement for him.

If we have simular next season(40M) we really need to be careful here on how much we spend, we dont want to spunk 15M on a CB thats simular level to holding, luiz, chambers, sok that we get little value from and even at 3M per year it'd be 15M over the contract. We can't do a lot in the summer with 30M so we really need to negotiate hard over this deal.

Matviyenko deal agreed according to Ukrainian media, Arsenal can choose to have him now or in the summer.

Eriksen joins Inter for 20m euros. Spurs really did well to get that much for him with 6 months left. Signed Bergwjin for 30m euros. Rate that guy, one to watch certainly

£17m for Eriksen is a disaster for them. If they had sold at the right time they could have easily got 3 or 4 times that. I mean at one point figures of more than £100m were being bandied about.

Very good signing for Inter, though. The guy's about to have the best few of years of his career.
