Where'd you play him though? We're already trying to integrate one sort-of flop in Pepé, and even though he's starting to come along there's a lot of work to be done until he's anywhere near the standard we want. We have our own talents that need the minutes for their own development. Who has time for a flopping Lemar just to see if we can get something out of him eventually? If we bring someone in they need to be able to contribute immediately, otherwise what's the point. This bloke had his last good game back in 2017. Gabriel Martinelli had barely been born back then.
Have to say I agree with Speedy. This is the type of punt on a talented but underperforming player we used to bring in back in Arsene's prime. Worst that happens is a poor loan spell and we don't take up the option. If he comes good though we could have a very good player on our hands.
The guy is still only 24, will be motivated having had a poor couple of years and even though he's won the world cup, at club level he isn't one of those players who's played for the top teams and has nothing left to prove. Quite the opposite, he has a lot to prove to justify the hype he was getting during his Monaco days. As long as there isn't an obligation to buy I'd be more than happy to take a chance.
