maddison plays with real flair, which is something i want to see here. he seems to have a great engine, which we desperately need. if we're going to play 2 box to box mids ahead of a CDM, my only question is whether he can do enough defensively, ball recoveries, tracking back, etc to work there instead of being more of a 10. i havent seen enough of him or looked at his stats to really know that.
saying all of that, i think we need to again focus our energies on young premier league tested talents. yes, the last "british core" didnt really work out, but because you fail once doesnt mean you'll fail every time. players whove proven they can do it in the premier league are safer bets, and right now, we cant afford to waste money in the transfer market, given that our squad needs so much help from back to front.
