I'd have Paqueta and Theo ahead of either. Leao and Rebic too

Contrary to my earlier position, a Lemar for Lacazette swap could be very beneficial. Lemar's biggest problem at Atletico is poor scouting leading to coach-player incompatibility similar to Emery-Pepe.

He was Monaco's 2nd most dangerous player and very suited to a left wide forward in an Arteta 433. He typically played wide left in Jardim's 442. His key attributes: fast, carries the ball well, really good passer/playmaker with over 2 key passes per game at Monaco. He also reads play very well and likes to ghost in on the far post like Pires to finish crosses. A guy like him would help us transition playmaking away from a dedicated number 10 to a more distributed function. During Monaco's best season he had 11 goals and 13 assists across Champs League and Ligue 1 and was more influential than guys like Fabinho, Bakayoko, Silva and Falcao.

Lacazette is tapped out. We aren't going to get much more out of him. He's a short, black Giroud. But Lemar should bounce back with a compatible coach.

Impossible to know if Lemar will bounce back or if his insane season really was the exception. I think Laca is valued higher than Lemar in the market personally.

I think that whole Monaco team was in flow leading to peak individual performances. It's a bit like Liverpool. If Liverpool weren't very rich and we broke them apart at the end of this season, I doubt many of their players would repeat the insane form we are seeing, especially the fullbacks whose high pass and assist numbers are predicated on very specific patterns of play.

A lot of what was good in Lemar at Monaco can be replicated by Arteta here. And Arteta would benefit from taking guys like Lacazette out of his team to advance his pass and move philosophy

They (Arsenal) spent heavily last summer, so that has to be factored into the equation, especially around FFP. They, like many other clubs prefer the summer window, so you can expect Arsenal to spend again next summer.

Nketiah loan deal to be sorted this week. Nottingham Forest, Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday all keen. Aston Villa a possibility too.

No move for Shkodran Mustafi is close at this moment.

Arsenal are looking to make 1-2 loan signings this window, club aren't close to any of them as of now.

Arteta feels he has a strong enough squad for time being, considering players are yet to come back from injury. One of the loan signings Arsenal are looking to make is left centre half. There are suggestions that club are looking for a CM and MAYBE someone at full back.

Laca is 29 and struggling for form and if we're honest, the £50m we bought him for was probably on the expensive side. Then you have his contract situation. I think folks overestimate how much teams will be willing to pay for him.

Lemar will never be a great I don't think, he just doesn't have it in him. But he could be a good, hard working, reliable option on the wing, balance out Pepe a bit and maybe allow the latter to focus more on goals.

I'd go for the swap, simply because I think Laca and Auba are a waste of resources.

Villa have been playing with mids up front so you'd have to think his chances of starting would be pretty good. The only questions for me would be what happens when Moares gets fit and when will he be fit?

Is Lemar going to be better at LW for the next couple of seasons than Martinelli and Saka? I'm not so sure. If we just had one of them and no Nelson then maybe but I don't really want more wingers unless they're an absolute game changer.

If they want Laca throw £10m in with him and ask for Partey

There is also a question of what those two players best positions are. Will Saka be a left wing or left back? And I honestly don't know what Martinelli's best position is. He's the most complete footballer I have seen on this team in years and is still quite young. I think he could play any number of roles really well.

Lemar has been godawful everytime I've seen him for atletico. Wouldn't waste time with him tbh, don't see him bouncing back in a timely fashion

We used to be incredible at rescuing misplaced potential.
The reason I'm intrigued is I look at our own team. This whole season there has been a clamour to sell the whole squad. But look at the immediate improvement in guys like Torreira, AMN, Kola and Luiz. Being in the right system with the right coach can revitalise the soul.

I think Saka has enough end product and skill, drive, etc to be a winger. He's done a decent job slotting in at LB but I don't think he's at that AMN stage where I'd say if you want to stay here this is your position. I think he's just a smart, hard worker which means he can slot in a few positions. Could see him covering ST when needed in a few years even and certainly could make a good AM.

Marty wants to play wing now and I think thats where I'd keep up unless we're stuck for a CF through injury, etc He's a bit young to load all the goal scoring pressure on to him. Especially when he's shown he can contribute from the wing anyway. Let him get another 18 months of play under him before moving him up top.

Getting Lemar for Lacazette is gonna turn out just like when we had to ruin a good deal for Alexis by getting Mkhitaryan as payment. I still can't believe we signed that asshole.
