This is the first time I've seen Upamecano but he looks twice the player that Gabriel has ever looked in any compilation I've watched. How is this bloke only 21 and how are we not pushing the boat out for him right now? Tell Luiz to fuck off to Rennes, get what you can from Holding, and then go big for this guy. This is what we need right here.

I think Upamecano had one mistake against Hertha that had people dismissing him as error-prone. That’s been it in all the games I’ve seen (other than the early sending off two months back). This is the standard by which I judge all the guys on our books and why I don’t really feel a need to hang onto any of them

He probably a player who’ll made the odd mistake simply because he’s very proactive, but like Kos. Can’t get hung up over that and lose sight of the benefits that style of defending brings.

Seen him three times this season and this to be fair is the most impressive he’s looked. Saying that Costa is finished as a striker so probably not his toughest test.

Seen him get caught out too easily, sometimes ball watching and loses his man and seen him press too aggressively and get caught out.

He was always our number one target and if twitter is to be believed he wants to join a CL club and he has extended his contract for a year so probably plans on leaving next summer.

To be a contrarian , I would say that him and the whole Leipzig back line did not have an easy time against Leverkusen, Dortmund or Monchengladbach.

Especially Halland and Thuram gave him a run around imho.

I remember the Monchengladbach game. That one was probably the most difficult because he had Thuram a lot of the time and Thuram has unique qualities of size and pace. He kept pulling him wide and beating him for acceleration. I think very few defenders would keep up with that guy. Funnily enough, maybe AMN is best for him

Workhorse more than a proper midfield baller. Emery's type of player. Sabitzer far more impressive.
