Barcelona is on fire. 3-0 , what a cross by De Jong and an out of the world first touch by Messi

Their football is really good. Well drilled with their positioning and their running. Everyone technically on point.
They are out and out favorites this year for sure.
Robbed. Absolutely robbed.
Ruled out for handball.

Looks so effortless too.
Even since this Flick guy has taken over Bayern they are playing ruthless attacking football.

Flick took over in late autumn. I think it’s after they were routed by Frankfurt 5-1, Kovac was fired and he was promoted.
The team had lost confidence in Kovac, a bit like Emery, so lifting that weight was the biggest thing. Then a few other tweaks like pushing more offense through the fullbacks and putting Mueller back in the starting line up, made the team much more attacking. They’re excellent

The change in intensity and performance was near instantaneous after they fired Niko Kovac. Massive credit to the coach, Hansi Flick.
Clearest pen you've ever seen. Was obvious in real time. These refs are so painfully bad at their jobs.
Neuer with Almunia palms
Can't believe folks were actually wishlisting Koulibaly here at one time. Bumbling Lump of a defender
Barca and Bayern would’ve pounded us like yam. But I think we would’ve had a chance against either of the teams in the Juve - Lyon game.

I hated our football this season, especially against the bigger sides. It got us a trophy, but it was a pain to watch for the most part.
Penalty to Napoli
The squad has major limitations.
That said I disagree.
We really played well against City even with what we had.
Broke their press.

I don't disagree re limitations, but you never gave Emery the benefit of the same reasoning.
We were very lucky against City. And basically parked the bus all game. See stats:

I honestly do not mind if we park the bus against the bigger sides next season.
Whatever that makes us harder to beat and keeps us in the game, I am fine with it.
Of course, except you won't win many games with 29% possession, 44 clearances and 4 shots on goal in 90 minutes.
That's a recipe for disaster

He's rather good but there are some clear weaknesses in his game. He's a very different defender than most seem to think he is. Plays a lot more like Mats Hummels than Sol Campbell if that makes any sense. It's not surprising that he's a weak link in a game where they have to defend low against mobile forwards. His strength is about pushing up the field.

We were lucky against Pool. I thought we managed City well. They had maybe two good shots that went wide. Otherwise our defensive wall kept them out. We organized exactly against the way that City play. Which is they like to have possession and set up against the opposition penalty area, working the ball until they can make incisive passes into your penalty area for high percentage shots. We showed patience and denied those shots.
And then on top of that, we countered their second most imposing weapon which is the first 5 seconds of their press with incisive passing that gave us both our goals. That win was a coaching master class.

That’s because Emery lost those games.
