Rewatched the game without the stress of following live while we trailed 2-0. We were significantly better than Spurs. Even in a first half where we let them get that advantage. Those two goals were very fortuitous for the visitors.
The standout player was Aubameyang. He was a menace down the lefthand side. So much good work including his clever dribble and cross for Pepe's header in the 23rd minute; and working Sissoko to earn the free kick that led to the sequence that gave us the goal. In fact he tormented Sissoko so often the brute will not want to see him again this season. On the goal, Aubameyang again was exceptional. Remember he was unsighted for half a second as he went round Vertonghen, completely lost this defender and still connected perfectly with the ball to push it just past Lloris.
Fullbacks also impressed. Kola also had one of this best games. Guendouzi and Xhaka found him often and he made himself available. Lots of really good service like the 68th. minute Aubameyang header. And he recovered well throughout the game. Very promising work in the 433 for him. AMN also joined the party. Good cross for Laca's header to start the second half, and again 10 minutes later for the low Guendouzi shot that Lloris parried out.
We were comfortably the better team. Just undone by a nonsensical sequence of defending and a Xhaka Attack.
