The question is, does Chambers get dropped for Luiz next match?
Why does the question not assume it could be Sok dropped?
Chambers looked very good today.
That was probably as weak as our starting XI will be all season. I think folks are underestimating what a good win this is. I thought we’d draw it. Ironically a solid defence helped us here.

I don’t think Emery would drop Sok in a million years. And no reason to really.
What is the reason to drop Chambers then?
Good but ugly win. I'll take it.

Seniority. Luiz didn’t come here to sit on the bench?

Sure but I hope Emery isn't picking based on seniority. Chambers has looked our best center half in pre season and was one of our best players today. It's good competition that hopefully pushes these players to always stay focused.
For a manager who wants to play out from the back Chambers & Luiz would be very tempting.
Important opening win especially given it was a pretty weak team to start. Mikhi was very poor and unfortunately a lot of our moments went through him.
Still don't rate Xhaka makes poor decisions and can't deal with pressure so hope that we are considering an upgrade for him in the next Windows.
Much tougher tests fast approaching so we need these results ahead of those games.
Mainly impressed with Chambers. Everyone else was OK.
Fuck it, I'm going to be positive - we'll have a more settled squad from next week and we had plenty of players unavailable. Even though Newcastle are shit they could have easily made life difficult because of their new manager bounce. Plus we got the away game win off our back.
Monreal looks on his last legs, we’ll be begging for Tierney shortly.
Surprised to see criticism of Douzi, thought he had a very solid game. Best of our midfielders at the very least.

1 good ball over the top and a couple of good passes up the line do not make up for 3 give aways right in front of our back line under no real pressure. Teammates who know him like Guendouzi avoid passing him the ball when under pressure as Leno found out when he dinked a simple ball over to him in the second half. Ceballos will also soon learn this.

Fully agree on both. Monreal really is poor now. He drove me crazy playing it backwards when he didn't need to. Looks like a player who doesn't trust himself physically anymore.
The only player that constantly frustrated was Mkhi, everyone else was decent.
Great three points. With a home game to come, good time to integrate the new signings.
Willock has decent potential.
Liked what I saw from him.
Nelson was kinda anonymous but i'll grant him leeway as he's a kid.
Mkhi is so sloppy. Utterly unreliable. Counting down his and Ozil's contract.
550,000 in wages on those two. Crazy.

He was terrible in the first half but much improved in the second half. I felt compelled to defend him when everyone was piling in so it could be that i am, unconsciously, biased.

He was disciplined and worked really hard, but on the ball he killed so many counters with dreadful passes and that’s ultimately what he’s there for.
It was probably tactical for Nelson to tuck in but i would have thought Willock and Ceballos would have more space if he hugged the touch line like Pepe did when he came on.
