In truth, I'm very busy at the moment and so have been on here less for the last week or so, but I refrained from comment last night because I was so annoyed by just how crap we are. United were pitiful and yet the draw was the fair result.

Also, a bit sad that United vs Arsenal can be scheduled for the day before a round of Champions League games. There's just nothing right about that.

It was a night to forget. And quickly. At least we didn't lose to the shit show that wear thay United shirt these days.

I try to view playing at OT like the Britannia of old. It's a revolting shithole where we should win really but where it's not as easy as it looks because of the fucking orcs mowing our players down, last year we lost Holding for nine months before it was Wilshere (not sure if it was OT or at home), this time it could've been Guendouzi a couple times. Also imagine if VAR wasn't around, swear I would've gotten myself a stomach ulcer this morning.

The linesman was truly shocking, wasn't he. I have full sympathy for the job not being easy, but this wasn't exactly a tight margin situation. Anyone with fundamental training would have spotted Auba being like three meters onside. He was caught ballwatching most likely and that's just not professional.

I really hate this picture. Static pictures when critiquing linesmen decisions are unfair. We have two sets of players moving in different directions as a ball is being released. I’d like to see the frame 1/10 of a second later. There could easily be a meter plus difference in that time, and then the linesman makes a decision. I’m really thankful for VAR. it impacts so few goals but it helps the referees get these few goals right more often than not.

Problem is in the game they never show it just running. They show it from the side and pause it and then run it, but you can clearly see the two players going in opposite directions. I think the linesman messed up, and ideally the FA asks linesmen to let plays run. But i can understand what happened.

One day these poor guys will be replaced by robots. And these little discussions will end 🙂

I'm somewhat surprised they're even allowed to flag (call) offsides anymore. Why bother at all when all it's doing is add confusion to players on the field.

And I think that's exactly why he got it wrong, because he got his points of reference wrong.

He got it wrong because it was utter guesswork and the game was at Old Trafford, so he went with the home team.

I know it was tic about the use of these lines to show offsides etc, but I think his line is perhaps closer to the truth than not.
The 'other' alternative being that he's watching the play on the ball and is oblivious to the defender (Maguire?), and is taking his point of reference as being the mowed line across the pitch where Pepe is.
So it's either a wrong point of reference or he's blind and made the decision without making any checks.

There is a big white line for the box that gives him a parallel point of reference. He just didn't see Maguire because he's not good at being a linesman.
