Bookmakers gave us no chance to compete for top 4 last season, yet we came within a missed shot here or there of making it. Have these same bookmakers taken a look at the state of Chelsea? If we don't finish ahead of Chelsea this season, then something is very wrong.

Iwobi is a player with some potential but one who had not produced enough end product when he has played for us. He needed to be contributing more goals but how finishing has been pretty poor. Also same for assists but his decision making in the final third hadn't been great either.

He may still develop in future but his current level was such that the offer is difficult to ignore as he wasn't a significant contributor to our successful attacking game. His loss won't be what determines where we finish.

I think they're overrating Chelsea as well, but they're certainly objective enough for me to not be trolling when I say that our top 4 hopes got a huge hit when selling Iwobi.

It's difficult to attribute the odds shifting to Iwobi alone though. Market will move for a variety of factors and maybe the window closing without an obvious CB improvement also had an impact.
I didn't look at the odds before but there is not much between us, Chelsea and United now and it must always have been close.

I'm seriously pissed Iwobi's gone. But in line with earlier excitement and trust in the "new-era ambition", gotta give it a chance.
If this is about the manager gambling Nelson can improve rapidly - must say it's a legit risk, even though it doesn't look like that from here.

In the bottom line we'll only know if it was a good gamble when we see how the youngsters do.

Nah, they offered him to us so many times. If we wanted him we would have gotten him long ago

I might be in the minority but I'm slightly glad we got rid of Iwobi for big money. He is usually the type of player we hold onto for too long despite being average, and then sell for peanuts. He lacked explosiveness to play wide and defensive nous to player central. Just disappointing we didn't replace him, but there's Jan for that.

Im in your camp.. not real broken up about it.. decent player, but at 24, really should have been kicking on and sorta hasnt..

Yep, I think this is a correct take. What's worse is that we had no replacement lined up and his contract wasn't running out, so there was no reason to sell him except that we liked the money on offer. That's how small clubs do business, not top clubs.

We'll see a lot of Auba and Mkhi on that wing next season. Maybe even Özil, which has never worked at any point. Pick your poison.
