Pepe signs for Arsenal.

Coombs just need to look back at the past 5-6 pages to know majority of the forum wanted him to come good. There's literally only 2 or 3 posters that wrote him off. He got it the other way round.

Majority was disappointed when he keep getting dropped after a good performance. We all wanted him to get a run to build form, nobody wanted Willian instead of him but that's what kept happening.

And by "now some are acting like they believed all along" he later specified that he meant "since Arteta came" so basically one and a half season ago. 😆

Just let him sit there thinking Qwiss wrote Pepe off. Kind of sad that Coombs who was so excited when we signed Pepe has to convince himself that literally everyone wrote Pepe off just because he did.

It's not about being wrong or not, is just that we are pointing out that not "entire forum" has written off Pepe. It is very evident in match threads (not only this). The general tone is "what does Pepe have to do to get a chance", not "Pepe is hopeless sell him" especially as this is his only 2nd full season.

I don't think anyone truly cares if they're right or wrong as long as he keeps doing well.

No, if he's shit you'll hear how they knew it all along and everyone at Arsenal is incompetent/corrupt, and if he's half decent it'll be proof that everyone at Arsenal is incompetent/corrupt for not playing him enough. Either way, there'll be outrage and I-told-you-so's. Pepe was an exciting signing, he struggled for a long while at first, and began to thrive under Arteta. His game has significantly improved and he's finished the season strongly.

Credit or blame whoever you want, I guess.

Hold up, I take it all back. I think I just talked myself into seeing it your way. Everyone in the club actually is incompetent and corrupt, so everything they do is fundamentally bad and wrong regardless of the result.

I was insulting Arteta and his mum every time I saw Pepe out of the team sheet since before it became cool to say Arteta out. Everyone in the club and this forum who thought he shouldn't start is either corrupt retarded or speedy.

"I think he’s on good form at the minute and he’s been playing really well and scoring good goals and his confidence is high.

“We’ve seen that all along and we’ve known the quality that he’s had and it’s just really nice to see him show everyone else what he can do.

Chambers himself deserves commendation for being the anti-AMN, just slotting into RB and playing his heart out.

I suspect Pepe's selections have had as much to do with the team shape and who was available as FB on either flank, as much as it was about his own form, and particularly when he was inconsistent prior to this calendar year.

Fair point. Bellerin was definitely a disaster for Pépé. He kept running into the inside channel that Pépé liked, pushing Pépé wide. Just dysfunctional going forward

Pepe put in a MOTM performance in the FA Cup final with Bellerin behind him. He was flying before Willian was inexplicably signed and favored over him. It can be easily argued that Arteta halted Pepe’s progress.

I suspect Willian was an expedient signing much like Cech.
Agreed Pepe was the MOTM for mind in The FA Cup Final, but that doesn't negate that he was hot or cold in regards to his performances prior, and may have continued to be a factor in addition to trying to balance the attack on the right flank.
That said IMO I don't think he is given enough credit for the improvements and effort he has put into his game & he now looks like a 70m player.
IMO Pepe would be devastating as part of the 2 in a 3421, when he gets the opportunity to play in a more central role to run and CBs on open/broken play.

Its a lot like the Cech signing in that it never should have happened. Cech wasn't better than Szczesny when he joined us and Willian wasn't better than Pepe. Idiotic signings in both cases.
