One of the few things I'm looking forward to next season is hopefully plenty of Pepe starting for us. He's an absolute nightmare to defend against.

And Willian is clearly done.

The key question is who starts on the right flank on opening day next season

If fantasy league stats are accurate he played only 1606 minutes in the league, I assume it doesn't include extra time, but this total is just short of 50% possible playing time.
In my opinion prioritising other players over him ( especially Willian ) was Arteta's biggest mistake of this season, yes he is frustrating to watch at times, but at the very least he creates a scoring situation in virtually every game.

such a 2007-2011 arsenal player. he's the type of player non washed up Wenger would've turned into a star. give him the belief to take risks, play an attacking style and he'll flourish.

He was already a star before he came here.

really? he had a few good seasons in ligue 1 by 23 years old.

as to flourishing now, let's not go too far here. he's had a good 2021. that's about as much as you can reasonably say.

Nah, that’s cool. I can get behind that.

2021 was a big improvement on everything he’d shown here until that point. Looks primed for a bit of a breakout next season, provided we don’t pick up James Milner to take half his minutes.

He’s still got a long way to go but it does look like we’ve got him on the right track.

We didn't see this version of Pepe at the start of the season in the 343.
I also think Arteta was looking to balance the flank as with Bellerin as WB means he looks to underlap which doesn't matter when Willian stays wide, whereas Pepe looks to come inside.

Do yourself a favour and watch the compilation of Pépé’s goals this season to celebrate his birthday. It looks like a “best of” compilation. This guy is an elite finisher.

He's absolutely quality. Probably the most fun player to watch in the team too. Some people hate his unpredictability with the ball but thats a massive bonus IMO. Can't have everyone colouring inside the lines on the team, especially not in the final 3rd.

Just don't have him stopped and squaring up a full back with time to think.

Of course he's great. Whoever thought otherwise were either too impatient with him or were too hung up in his price tag to look at what he actually did on the pitch.

nobody hates unpredictability with the ball. It's the awkward ball control allowing him to be constantly dispossessed that gets to you.

Have to agree he's our most fun player by far, and we need characters like him.

This entire forum had written him off and now some are acting like they believed all along. So much projection in this.

I've literally hoped seeing Pepe there every time the lineup is announced. Qwiss is always saying that Pepe is usually our most dangerous attacker when he gets to play and complaining that he gets benched after playing well. Not sure if you're mixing what other people have said?
