He's nowhere near the level he was at Lille come on. That was a world class player shredding teams by himself here he can't get a string of starts ahead of Willian and an out of position kid with a geriatric hip ffs. Even if he's doing slightly better than before when Arteta banished him altogether this is far from "good" territory
Look at his PERs this season. Lille levels. He's fine. We aren't seeing the one-man demolition army performances he gave versus PSG but that's not what Arteta wants. He's a system guy like Pep and Klopp.
That's not what Pep or Klopp do, they don't sign standout talents and make them do the dirty work. When Guardiola signed Cancelo he was a terrific attacking right back who'd get burned by any attacking winger. Then he moves him centrally to mitigate his tendency to get dribbled past but keep his creative output. Walker was moved from right back to centre back because his one good quality his extreme athleticism is better used there than when he smashed in aimless crosses from wide. He didn't tell Mahrez to stop cutting in and focus on pressing from midfield.
I think Pepe is by far best from RW but I don't mind him being moved around from time to time, time is on his side look at Lemar in Madrid guy looked a complete flop for two years and starts big games for them now in several positions. What I do mind is that Arteta will drop him from the first team in the blink of an eye when it's clear to anyone he'll lose whatever form he was building up that exact minute and not even because our alternatives are banging down his door.
