Yeah, I was joking that he hasn't really done a hell of a lot over the past season but on the evidence and his track record, looks like he might be a real player if he adds it up.

Of course! I’ve been critical of the men, but I’m in a much better place. He needs to do his 2 a days all summer but he will be a threat next season. The value of a good manager: Pépé, Lacazette, Xhaka, Ceballos, Mustafi, AMN all improved significantly under Arteta. Emery was ending careers

Pepe has been underwhelming for the price but whenever we actually managed to win games this season he was usually a critical factor. It was a terrible season to join Arsenal and none of last summers signings did well as a result so hopefully going into a settled team for the new season will see a big improvement from Pepe. He has all the talent we just need him to click and the manager to figure out how best to use him.

I think over the entire season as a whole I am happy with the 4 players we signed last summer. All proved to be a big upgrade on whatever we had previously

Ceballos an upgrade from Ramsey? Even Luiz on Kos is debatable.

Both were downgrades. Chambers was clearly better than Luiz too and should have been given a lot more chances before he got injured imo.

He played plenty didn't he? Started 13 PL games, though I think a few of them came at right back initially.

Luiz this season was better than Kos last season and the frenchman's body was fall apart, as well as being mentally not up to the challenge.

Yes for me, especially after Arteta found his position. Ramsey has always been really flawed as a CM with lack of positioning discipline and technical consistency. Ceballos is more rounded and complete. Not to mention the defensive prowess.

Oh and of course he is an upgrade simply because Ramsey is mostly injured this season and on a much higher wage

Ceballos had a couple of good weeks, and even they were just good not amazing. Nowhere close to Ramsey.

Its amazing how we signed all these upgrades and got way worse.

It’s hard comparing a player who has really only played half a season for us in Ceballos to an Arsenal legend in Ramsey.

If you ask me who I would prefer next season, a 30 year old injury prone Ramsey or an improving already had one year in the league 24 year old upward trajectory Ceballos it would be the latter every time.

The impact Arteta had on various players this year makes me lament the way Ramsey’s career went. I don’t think we extracted anywhere near what we could’ve. We shifted him around without a plan for years on between the unfortunate injuries. He gave us 3 incredible, unforgettable months. And we’ve never built on that. We need to be better about player development. I want to feel like we’ve sucked everything out of Tierney, Pépé, Saka, etc., whether they succeed or fail.

Ceballos is a better central midfielder, Ramsey is a better attacking midfielder.

Ramsey was a valuable player at times but not entirely consistent and missed at least 10-15 games a season.

I'd take Ramsey all day. Its almost tragic that he didn't get a run-out here in a Lampard style role in a midfield 3 behind three forwards.
