people going a bit crazy right now.
tons of players come to the premier league and struggle in their first few months, and sometimes for their first few seasons. people are freaking out about pepe because of how much we paid for him, but that is the cost of doing business these days.
hes looked really poor, but he didnt have a normal preseason with us, hes struggling to adjust to the speed of the league, and hes been dropped into a team without a real system or identity. if the rest of the team starts to gel and he continues to struggle, then yeah, maybe you'd be concerned. but at this point, there is no use freaking out over his slow start.
likewise, hes not "blocking saka's path" because saka looks like a pure left winger, and pepe is a pure right winger. no point even comparing them.
in the season expectations thread, i actually picked pepe to be the player to disappoint. i didnt expect him to come in and light the world on fire given that he didnt have a full preseason with us, and he was making a huge jump up from ligue 1 to the premier league. i still trust he'll be a good player for us, but perhaps expectations should be scaled back
