A properly elite striker would definitely take them up a level. Sterling is by so far their best player and has been for a while.
They need DEFENDERS though. It was a big mistake to put their money into Laporte: good player and potentially a very good one, but has always been prone to picking up injuries. Persisting with Stones and Otamendi and not signing van Dijk when he was there for the taking will be the end of Guardiola at City. I'm not saying they'll sack him, but Liverpool have his number and are in their prime, he's not going to stick around and try and rebuild them to become serious Champions League contenders.
