😆 If Anders Limpar wasn't playing, Klausie wasn't watching!
You could name way more than that, Klaus: Lukic, Dixon, Winterburn, O'Leary, Adams, Bould, Rocastle, Merson, Smith and obviously Michael Thomas. That's 10 players I've named from memory and I reckon you'd get a similar number too.
I agree with Goon: I think most kids today don't actually like football all that much. I have a friend who is genuinely obsessive about football and Arsenal, but when we sit down and watch football together he spends most of the game talking in Whatsapp groups about football, looking online at football news, checking stats of a player that's playing, or generally just on his phone, playing games sometimes--anything but acrually watching the football most of the time. I think he loves the all consuming nature of football: the social media stuff, the talk in the pubs, the something to do, but not the actual football itself. And he until recently played for a local park team and would go and "watch" them play if he wasn't playing too.
I think most kids that get into football are the same. Too many other distractions and indulgences, and a miniscule attention span. I generally watch football, especially top level football and Arsenal, like a hawk and always have done. If not then the game is either really boring or I'm really tired or distracted. It's such a crazy contrast between the two of us when we watch a match together, and we often do.
