Expanding this idea to build a Premier League XI, what would you go with? Mine would be:
Schmeichel
Lauren Vidic Campbell Robertson
Salah Keane Fabregas Ronaldo
Bergkamp
Henry
Some will go with Petr Cech, but I was never quite the fan others were, even if I rated him very highly; his Arsenal career has coloured my view a bit too: the last 2 seasons were dreadful. I'm loath to put Robertson in, but I can't think of a way around it; although, it goes without saying Ashley Cole was 20 times the player. Perhaps Kompany, Yaya Toure and Aguero should be in there, but I think if they had played 10 years before they wouldn't have achieved what they did, nor anything close; similar story with van Dijk, De Bruyne and Hazard. Essien, Lampard, Gerrard and Drogba are players that many others would pick, but, for me, Sol Campbell is best CB I've seen in the League and has to be in there--so that shaped other picks, and I think Keane and Fabregas deserve their spots, even if it's a crime not to have the best centre midfielder in Premier League history in there: Patrick Vieira, but Thierry is the first pick in the team, anything else is crazy. Ronaldo speaks for himself. Suarez is a player I have loved for a decade, but he only really had a season and a half where he was a superstar here; and so perhaps some might say it's Arsenal bias, but I think Bergkamp more than deserves his place.
