well he obviously doesn't disagree with wenger on the obvious lack of defensive organisation for starters, otherwise something would've been done about it. i agree it's absurd to blame rice for things that are clearly wenger's responsibility, but bringing in a new number 2 certainly can't hurt. we need new ideas and a sense of perspective. it's great to do things the wenger way (i refuse to call it the arsenal way), but someone who can teach say, defence or running towards the goal when you want to put a ball in it, the way it's commonly practiced in professional football would be a great help.

You can't hand Rice the blame for our failures, but you certainly can't credit him with anything much either.

Whereas if we were winning trophies I'm sure we'd be claiming the Pat - Arsene combination had some mythical synergy.

Personally I think Rice going might help, but not necessarily because Rice is a problem. Wenger might need to prove himself differently with different scrutiny.

Moyes: I want him to find new challenges. Not at Arsenal. Elsewhere. He needs to develop himself as manager.

Villas-Boas. He's winning things with attacking football. He'd walk in to the dressing room and have credibility.

Wenger: I want him out regardless of what happens this weekend. I'd be truly surprised and delighted if we won this weekend, but it'd be too little too late. Off with his head

Not for me. Just proves that United were always weak and fragile and that we should be winning the title. Wenger failed to meet expectations and squad morale and pride is shot to hell. It's time for him to hit the road.

Hope that Chelsea can overhaul United now so we don't have to hear about their "winning mentality" again.

Its so frustrating because we really are just that few percent short of turning into a great side. Just show some nerve Arsene ffs, give this team a backbone, ditch the losers, bring in some quality and show a bit of flexibilty tactically.

With the likes of Vermaelen, Djourou ,Ches, Song, Cesc, Jack, Ramsey, Nasri, Robin, Theo, Sagna and so many great youngsters coming through - we could turn into something special.

'Frustrating' is the best word to describe the current situation.

As you say, Armor, the squad needs to be gutted of the losers and the manager needs show some ruthlessness.

At this point, I've lost faith in Arsene doing that. On the other hand, I can't see him leaving or getting sacked either. So we'll probably rely on internal development and it will be more of the same next season.

I can't see Kroenke sacking Wenger.
It's so frustrating - we have a team capable of beating Barca, Chelsea and United but who also conspire to lose to the likes of WBA, Bolton and can't be trusted with a four goal lead.

I don't trust that Wenger will address the areas that need attention in a way that will make us stronger.

He has had the opportunity to do so for a few seasons now and he has not managed it, I can't see why next season will be any different.
To believe that it will would involve believing that Wenger makes key signings that will immediately and noticeably improve our squad, and that the defensive and attacking weaknesses that are exposed when the pressure is on will be eliminated.
That would involved Wenger himself changing and that won't happen.

The thing is, we had an opportunity to fix this. The problems at Arsenal aren't new - a lack of maturity and composure in tight situations has been obvious for long enough now, particularly at the back, and he didn't fix it last summer either.

He made the right noises at the end of last season too, then went and got carried away with himself in the summer and signed Koscielny, when what we were crying out for was intelligence and experience. I don't know how anyone can trust him any more, no matter what he says now, when the chips are down he'll revert to type.

"Internal development" is not a negative thing, or a made up thing. It's a big advantage we have over most of our rivals.

Of course it isn't, but at the same time, relying on internal development alone isn't enough to compensate for lack of defensive know-how or shite players.

Not to mention the boost that a new signing can give a team. I look at people like Reyes, Arshavin, Luiz and Suarez and feel that a signing in January could have been the difference between winning the league or not.
