I really want us to make a marquee signing in the summer. I don't think we need much more in terms of squad depth. To use a Wengerism I think what we need now is more super-quality players.

I find much of my anger towards Wenger lessening as the season draws to a close- partly because I know it's largely impotent fury, and partly because, disappointing as events have turned out, when the season started, I didn't expecting us to do much better than we are.

I'm now back to the wait and see what he does in the transfer market mode.

It'd be nice to get a proven quality player that we all know and rate, but I'm not all that bothered tbh. I just want Wenger to sign the right players for us. I'm not bothered where they come from, how much they cost or what reputations they have.

I mean, last summer loads of fans would loved to have seen us spend £20m on Balotelli, but he'd have been a total waste of money cos he's a complete joke of a footballer.

Doesn't matter who we sign as long as we do not have a manager good enough to use the players correctly. We really should've won the league this year, with this squad.

Ha Balotelli.
I remain a big fan of Balotelli the footballer. Same as I do Mourinho the coach. However, as men, they have lost many points in my books over the course of this season, and I would have to be desperate now to want either man at the helm. We have to win trophies, and that means having the best on board, but I'm starting to take more of the position that one must compete with honor and dignity, and it is not worth sullying your reputation.

Bit of a tangent here but I honestly don't think we over spent on Kos. The problem is he was asked to do too much too soon. Look at Smalling at United, same price and IMO not as good but he's been protected more so hasn't come under the same scrutiny as Kos. This isn't a defence of Wenger signing him BTW, if he wanted him then he should have signed someone better than Squillaci to play ahead of him, huge mistake by Wenger to by both of them at the same time. I just think Kos is actually quite good, just adapting to the league and getting experience he's never had.

Same as alot at Arsenal now, talented play mis-managed.

Will see what happens with Smalling. I suspect that in a year or two, Ferguson will just look up and spend the money on a Subotic or whoever else is rated at the time. He'll do the same with the goalie. He's had a lot of guys trying out, but he will finally just go to Schalke or Lyon and pay top dollar. Ferguson's kids are largely stop gaps until he can find what he really wants, where ours are typically the final solution. Each system has its merits

No sure about that, Ferguson has shelled out £8M already on Smalling, and that could rise to £14-16M depending on appearances/achievments.

That was in the past though, can United really afford to go around and pay 'top dollar' anymore? The last few transfer windows suggest not.

At this point of time, it doesn't even feel like we're a few players short. We are precisely one quality player short. A world class player at any area, practically any area (may be except for central attacking midfield) would be enough for us to win things.

No it wouldn't.

The ability to remain calm and play under pressure is the difference between us and winning anything. I'm far from convinced that any one signing (or multiple signings) could bring us that.

It's possible, yes, but in that case it certainly means more than one player.

We want to add what is needed but it is very important for the club that we keep faith in what we do.
