If we replaced him properly, and the manager spent a little bit of cash, the 'half' the fanbase that would be outraged would probably get over it pretty quickly.

No doubt there'll be plenty of 'I told you so's' out there next season, one way or another.

Anyway, I'm deciding whether or not it's interesting that Kroenke hasn't yet come out and backed Wenger publically.

Given the abuse he's getting in the press, it wouldn't be unusual for an owner to do something like that, but then again, he is known as 'Silent Stan'.

Yeah but thats a massive risk. If it goes wrong and we get in a new manager and we drop out of the top 4 and then Cesc leaves, and it becomes a crashing house of cards then Kroenke is left with a club where the fan base hates him and I can't see that being good for business.

If Kroenke wanted rid of Wenger then he'd need to invest heavily at the same time and I don't see that happening. Even if he was prepared to invest heavily he'd probably give Wenger the money and TBH I'd like to see how that panned out myself.

You're not wrong, but if he lets Wenger continue on the same path, and we get another late season collapse with nothing to show for it, the finger will be pointed at the Billionaire owner who refuses to put his hand in his pocket nontheless.

Look at the flack Wengers getting now while the board are/were just as responsible yet no one really cares. The most you get is people lashing out at PHW but he doesn't make those sort of decisions. Wenger will take all the flak for Stan until he's gone.

The manager's always the first point of call for the fans. Fact is, most recognise (by now) that he's the biggest obstacle to the club buying the players they need. Most you can accuse the board of is complacency.

The difference is our board / owners have attracted little/no attention in the past because of the stability in ownership over the years and its limitation to a few Arsenal families. Once people start to realise that there are two foreign majority owners, they are going to make demands. By the end of next year, the blame is going to elevate from Wenger to Kroenke. I think Kroenke has seen enough of the Glazer and Hicks/Gillett regimes to know that Americans can be hated regardless of whether they're losing or winning bagfuls of trophies, so he will want to limit missteps early on.

Listening to Tuesday Club. They're saying Wenger needs to bring in another no 2. They're still in support of Wenger.

I find a little funny how Wenger's supporters say Wenger should stay, we just need him to bring in this player or that coach. The reality is that he has had enough time to bring in all kinds of players and coaches. These docile coaches and incapable players were not forced upon him. If you want change, Wenger must hit the road.

It really gets my goat that some people still implicitly or explicitly blame Pat Rice for Wenger being useless.

Pat Rice isn't completely blameless. He's to blame for his own contributions or lack therof. Same as Wenger and same as all the players and the board.
