Can't send players to a nutter like Bielsa though who's completely inflexible. Look what happened with Eddie.

There are tons of good managers in Championship who'd be glad to have Saliba. Just pick one and get on with it. Brentford would be a good destination, they play good football and it's extremely close.

Just play him here ffs, unless he's regressed from his time in France he'll be fine. Holding Mustafi and Sokratis shouldn't be serious options, Mari is injured, Chambers is an unknown entity at this point leaving Gabriel Luiz and Saliba

That would be some move. From a 30m move expecting to solve Arsenal defensive issues for the next decade to playing Championship football and behind the pecking order of Gab, Holding, Chambers, Luiz, Mustafi, Sokratis...Mari.

Not sure what he can learn in Championship, just give him game time here and let him adapt slowly.

This is very weird. Why do players always have these weird problems at Arsenal? Just get on with it, play some football.

Thats why I think he might get a few months in the Championship. Just to keep playing. I'd rather he played in the Championship than Ligue 1 TBH.

Yep, look at someone like Ben White. He did a year in the Championship and now he looks the business in Premier League. The most important thing is to start games.

Yeah he's had his time in France too, let him learn about English football. Even if its not a full season and just till January.

I'd much rather he play in the EL group stages and CC games with us, and then go on loan in Jan for the rest of the season.

this just gets better and better.

With the Europa League group we got he should have plenty of easy games. Play him there, and then if we really want to, loan him out in january.

I agree. All the EL tames + league cup and early FA Cup should be enough initially and then we'll see whether he should go out on loan based on that.

Nah, if he’s not going to play send him out on loan to the Championship. Linked with Brentford, I think that would be a good move. Playing a game every three weeks doesn’t work for a centre back, if you want him to develop into a starter he needs to play every week.

Agree with Goon. This kid played a dozen games last season and hasn't had regular football in 6 months. Sporadic football is not ideal. If Brentford are interested and have a gap, send him over.

I'm just curious, he can't be that far off in quality from what people are watching in Ligue 1. I have never watched him in full before, but based on people who watched his full games say against Lyon and PSG everyone is raving about it and he got MOTM if I'm not wrong. Why does he suddenly need game time again to go up another level? Ligue 1 is of higher quality than Championship. Like I watched Gabriel and he instantly made an impression, no surprise it was easily translated to performances here barring some tiny mistakes that comes with new players.

Something don't add up. Like what jones said you don't suddenly go from a top talent to be behind Sokratis Mari and Mustafi here

The pace and physicality of the Premier League is a different level from Ligue 1. You have to trust the technical staff who see him everyday and gauge his preparedness for this level. They had no qualms throwing Gabriel into the deep end. Saliba still has a great amount of physical development left even though he is naturally gifted in that regard.

I am just surprised there wasn't a greater push to send him to a Premier League club. Agree with Goon. Defenders more than any other outfield players mature with time. He needs to go and play week in week out. The Championship isn't a great level but he will get a flavour of the physicality.

The pace is different maybe but not the physicality, loads of butchers plying their trade in France.

I think it comes down to the manager.

This was Arteta answering a question on where Saliba can make an instant impact back in July, before he came to train here:

"As a young player he had a really difficult season with injuries that he has had but again it is part of his process," Arteta added.

"I know how high the expectations are on him for next year but we have to bear in mind the age that he is at and what he has done in the past.

"I will make sure that we create the right environment for him so that he can keep growing as a player."

I think someone like Wenger would have thrown him in, but I don't think Arteta has even been keen on the idea of throwing in a 19yr old with barely a seasons worth of first team games under his belt in a really demanding position.

It's not about being better than our 3rd or 4th choice centre back, it's about the quickest route to making him a starting centre back.

I'm seeing all the reactions on twitter over Saliba. Wow. There is such an incredible need for instant gratification. It makes me wonder - should we not invest in early stage youth players at all?

I think people just need to tone down the hype a bit. Thinking everyone is going to be generational right away puts impossible expectations on players. We have a teenager who broke his foot last year and then had the season cut short just when he made his return, and now he's living in a new country with a different football culture. Let him go on loan and learn the trade. I don't get why everything has to happen right away. Obviously signing Saliba wasn't a great use of our money in the short to medium term, where investment was needed the most at the time, and it places further question marks around the people who were involved in that deal, but that's not his fault, nor is it a comment on his talent.

Spot on.

To be honest, if not back to France, I think I would now keep him and play him in the cup games. Good for him to be in and around his teammates and the manager.

You're asking if we should let Twitter decide what Arsenal should and shouldnt do?

It's hilarious, they built him up to be the next Baresi and now they are finding all sort of excuse to have a step down. Everyone just assumes family problem like they are his brain.

Hope we pick the right championship club for him. I think Brentford was a good shout

I would someplace like Bournemouth or Bristol would not be bad too.
