Yeah, Quincy. The easy Europa League schedule might also help ease him in off he stayed with us.

That we are considering sending him back suggests that the family situation is serious. If he does go to Rennes, it’s only about 3 hours away from Paris where he grew up. I know Mertesacker places a lot of emphasis on mental and emotional health, so that aspect of our youth philosophy might’ve played a part in the decision to send him home. These things will pay off. The kids talent is not in doubt. L’equine only had 6 defenders higher than him in their last ranking of top 50 young players in the world a year back. And by all accounts he looked really good last season.

It’s ok Rob Holding’s form is inversely proportional to the amount of hair on his bonce. At this rate we’ll have Franco Baresi in our hands by Christmas

We’ll need Barthez by January.

Someone mentioned in another thread that his mom died the other month. Might account for the personal issues Arteta alluded to.

oh that explains a lot. Lad's only 19.

We should move his whole fam to London.

We agreed a deal with ASSE for another loan but couldn't get the admin done, and he's reportedly gutted. Shit start to his arsenal career, hope the club does everything they can to support him

Why did this have to wait until the last day?

I really hope we just give him a go and start him in certain easy Europa matches. Seriously he can't be worse than Mustafi and Sokratis.

Why should we have given him back to Sainté anyway when they fucked him over and didn't let him play in a cup final. Little growth to be had there, throw him in the deep end here give him cup games etc, he didn't look any less comfortable playing grown men in his debut season than Gabriel did in his last imo.

It's because allegedly his mother has died very recently and he finds it tough to adapt to a new country at this time.

There's totally no info on that to be honest. It seems like someone made that vile rumour up. By some accounts he was close to a loan to Fulham.

Not sure about the story of his mother, there are reports that she passed on recently and others that it happened in May already. Either way why leave it until deadline day if there's a clear desire for the kid to return home.

Thats why I think he might get a few months in the Championship. Just to keep playing. I'd rather he played in the Championship than Ligue 1 TBH.

Hoping we manage him well - needs support - so much talent there

That would be some move. From a 30m move expecting to solve Arsenal defensive issues for the next decade to playing Championship football and behind the pecking order of Gab, Holding, Chambers, Luiz, Mustafi, Sokratis...Mari.

Not sure what he can learn in Championship, just give him game time here and let him adapt slowly.

This whole thing has been handled terribly, right from the day we signed him. Huge talent and I hope we don't lose him.

Yeah this is not being handled in the right manner at all, something doesn't feel right with what is going on.

On the playing side it appears he may need to work on his technique a little and perhaps his positioning.

Strange

Yep, look at someone like Ben White. He did a year in the Championship and now he looks the business in Premier League. The most important thing is to start games.

Has to be the right club though, I would have wanted him to play under Biesla but the Fulham links had me worried.
