So, for those that have seen lots of him, where's his best position and just how good is he exactly? I can't imagine he's coming here to sit on the bench.

he feels more like a playmaker/#10 than a box to box midfielder, but i wont pretend that ive closely studied his game. from the highlight clips, he looks like a great dribbler with good end product.

given our disjointed and seemingly random formations we use, he'd probably be best suited in a 3 man midfield as the most attacking, with two box to box guys behind him. but who knows how we'll even line up. i dont think he fits in a 2 man midfield at all from what ive seen.

As I said in the first page of the thread, forget about the Cesc or Cazorla comparison this guy is Iniesta MK2. Watch his U21 U20 or Betis highlights for an idea how ridiculously talented he is. He's not nearly as explosive or physical as Ndombele but as far as getting the ball off one of them you'd 100% back yourself against the Frenchman first.

He's Iniesta not just in playing style but position too. Strictly speaking a CM although a very attacking one, could play on the wing even although he'd be wasted there similar to the Barcelona version. CM is where you want someone with his talent on the ball because he can move the ball forward either running or passing it, even though his final ball is definitely good enough to be able to play him closer to goal too. This with an option to but would be the best deal we've made in quite a while

the question becomes, how do we properly utilize him here? we should be playing with 3 midfielders, him being the most advanced, imo. but we might play with 7 defenders in our next match, so who knows really. maybe he'll play right back

Agreed with this.
This will be unpopular in certain quarters, but what I’ve seen of this guy makes me feel like this is the long term upgrade on Ramsey I would want. Better defines the position for me. I’m hoping that Real are just struggling to define a price for him and both he and Real would leave the door open to a permanent transfer. The first step is having him at the Emirates though
