RocktheCasbah is he ever really likely to develop his game to a point where he can, y' know, occasionally look up whilst dribbling?
I'm confused. Just in the last few games, how many actually dangerous crosses has he put in that were missed by Odegaard and Saka? If he never looked up he wouldn't be pulling it back sometimes or lofting it other times or driving it low into the 6 yard box. He might not look up every time he gets the ball, I can admit that, sometimes he does focus too much on the guy he's trying to beat. But some of his passing even in the buildup phase recently around the area where Odegaard crossed for Kiwior's goal has been quality recently. A number of those little reverse passes he made in recent games after he cut in to free up Rice and MLS in the top corner of the box you wouldn't expect to see from someone who never looks up.
He's no Saka but this nitpicking on every small so called mistake or miss he makes is getting honestly tiring to deal with (not necessarily directed at you because I know you've defended Martinelli in the past). Saka missed like 3 or 4 great chances the other day but aside from the moment of the miss, no one mentioned it after the game (not that I'm asking for that either because that'd be stupid) yet here we are criticising him in a game which the same people criticising are saying is meaningless because all our eggs are in the CL basket and top 4 is secure so the players aren't fully into the League games.
Anyways, I think I'm in a minority here who are actually happy with what Martinelli brings to the table and see that the positives he gives us far outweighs the negatives. I don't think it'll be long before it becomes widely accepted. Kinda like like with Gabriel. Might have to just exit this thread in the meantime because some people will always have complaints about him and jump on him every chance they get.
P.S. If it wasn't clear, I love Martinelli, the haters can hate all they want.
