Nothing new there, give them £35m and Chambers and Jenko.
Wilfried Zaha
Can't believe we are having a summer saga involving Wilf Zaha and Tierney. We really have turned to shot haven't we
It's all ok - we have a planB

He's been good in the Championship but its a big ask to step up. I'd be ok with it for the money if it was as well as someone more established.

Have been told Arsenal’s opening £40m offer for Zaha was staggered over five years. Inevitable given #afc’s limited funds (and not uncommon in transfers generally) but given #cpfc’s stance, it’s a further indication of how far talks have to progress.
So they want 80-100 mil and we went ahead with a bid of 40 spread over 5 years. hahaha. So yeah, they are expecting 80 milion, and we want to give them 8 milion this summer. I love this club, banter era back at it.
Apparently not only have Palace rejected the opening bid and the terms to pay in instalments over a number of years with a discount for doing so early, they've also added another 20m to their asking price.
That wouldn't really be rational. If they had an amount that they deemed worth to sell a player for, raising that amount to 100m because they're mad would mean that if we bid 90m,they'd choose to keep Zaha instead of more money than they think he's worth to them. They're an organization, not a person,so irrationality like that shouldn't happen.
I don't really understand guys like Zaha, sign a big long term deal then kick up a fuss when a club comes in for you a few months later? If you want a move to a bigger club run your deal down or insert a proper release clause.
This seems whole deal seems like such a waste of time, chasing an unrealistic target for the next 5 weeks instead of going out and buying someone else.
Palace's faux outrage is a joke. Steve Parish is one of the biggest wankers in football, as if he's not up to every kind of shady trick when it comes to getting players for his club.
I hope Zaha kicks up a massive fuss and says he wants to join only Arsenal.
Zaha wanted to repay them by giving them his loyalty to protect his transfer value.
Abit of a dumb move actually
It depends how gentlemanly Palace are about their gentleman's agreement.

Spot on. 40m and you're laughing it off you're having a fucking laugh
All these "incensed" clubs as well as Ornstein for reporting it can choke on a dick
Lol.
Obviously they’ll want more than £40m given what that they sold a right back with 18 months experience for £50m to the suckers from the north. But the story is tainted by two things. First, our skint reputation. Second, this silly £80m valuation that the hacks made up. Following too closely will only give you ulcers
Well Wan Bissaka is a lot younger with more potential, and they're dealing with Utd, a club which is notorious for over paying. And the player wasn't pushing for a move.

Yeah £40m is a solid bid for Zaha. If thats not enough to at least get them to the table to talk about maybe a bit more then fuck them, move on. Zaha isn't good enough to get stuck on. If we can't get our other targets put in an offer of £35m on the last day of the window.
Transfer fee inflation is partly an issue because clubs let it be . United are paying stupid money, which encourages Palace somewhat, but if clubs stood up for themselves and moved onto the next target when they got quoted a ridiculous price then things would eventually level out. There must be players on the continent that could have a similar impact to Zaha but cost millions less.
Clubs are emboldened by their new found TV money riches and it means they have a bit more leeway in terms of keeping their prized assets because they don't necessarily need the transfer fee and they can afford more in wages, but it doesn't mean they should be bowed to when they set unreasonable levels.
Wan Bissaka's move has anchored people's minds to a certain figure when it comes to the Zaha deal, as Palace are no doubt trying to do with suitors for Zaha. There's a number of reasons that deal should be completely disregarded, but it isn't and the media do a brilliant job of hyping it up so much and ensuring people thing it's a great deal. It is a completely idiotic situation and fans buy in to it far too easily.
That Hull City player isn't bad though , I would take a punt on him as well as Burnley's McNeill

Fixed that for you. I saw him on Question Time once, no surprise he's a believe in Britain brexiteer and a massive plonker in general.
Our track record at getting deals done has to be the absolute worst of any club in the top 5 leagues. Surely if we had Tierney done by now, we could move on to other targets? I know things don't necessarily have to be sequential and can be parallel as well, but some bandwidth has to be constrained by this ongoing Tierney drama.

I'd imagine, probably more so in our seemingly dire financial situation, a lot of transfers are linked more closely than we might think. Funding a Tierney deal might impact on what's available for Zaha and vice versa.
