I don't think he is anyone's first or even second choice so no one is going to be excited.
I feel Emery going for him is a cost of his failure to win a CL slot as better players are not interested in Europa.

I think the VAR point is a great call. Imagine the amount of penalties Zaha will win for us next year. He won about 8 last year so probably twice that amount when you slow mo into a decision.

If you consider we'll probably attack more than Palace too overall, so thats more fouls, plus VAR, then take into account that he'd be playing for Arsenal he could win us up to 3 penalties over the length of his contract

😆

I don't think we are likely to get any exciting signings this summer. Players like Zaha and Tierney are good solid signings if they happen but wont get the blood racing. Thats the situation we're in now. Players willing to move to Europa league teams tend to either be a massive gamble or a bit underwhelming. Its a miracle we got Auba when we did.

I'd rather go with a gamble, especially if we're looking at £50m+ for Wilfried Zaha.

Hardly a reject. He would walk into their line up now.

Massive upgrade on Mickey and Iwobi out wide
And on the pricing. I doubt this is what Palace are thinking. I suspect it’s what the media men have computed based on the United sell on. We will get him for significantly less than what papers value him at because he is a very good but not great player.

Well fuck me that changed in a hurry.  Here I am saying there's been nothing doing and then I wake up to this and the thread has doubled in size.  I'm still not convinced this is anything more than creating options based upon potential external factors such as MC getting banned & us gaining CL by default.

In answer to some of the posts there is no way I'd be letting Chambers go as he's both HG and a hybrid RB/CB/CM = convert him into an inverted WB as Bellerin will miss the start of the season.

In relation to VAR Zaha becomes a massive threat in the final 3rd, and was the most fouled player in the PL last season.  As such then we shouldn't be looking to sell Laca.

Just wondering if Emery is looking at Zaha as a winger or as a forward in a 4123/wide 433.

Well done for changing your position in a hurry.
Good to see you abandon your "poor first touch" and "Alexis lose-possession" guy stats and find the more relevant "most fouled player in the PL last season".
That's what you gain by actually watching as opposed to simply reading figures. Stats are useful but should always be secondary as you are able to see the reasons behind them. Even watch compilations like Ricky's above do not show the incredible number of clear fouls that are waved on because they occur so often and are simply ticked off as lost possession by the bean counters.
As for Chambers as a wingback in place of Bellerin, are you Arsene Wenger incognito?

How did I change anything by commenting about VAR & him being fouled?  Doesn't change the other stats and doesn't change my opinion that he is not worth the money and lacks end product.

As for Chambers as WB I said Inverted WB - so based upon what I've seen from MC that means the FB moves infield next to the DM / deepest CM to cover the centre much like the Brazilian Box 4 in their 4222.  Further to this the WB then looks to play a supporting role through the middle rather than wide so as to provide numbers in the centre.  Now considering Chambers won POTY playing CM/DM for Fulham last season it's not a huge leap.

EDIT - Actually there IS something that I have changed my mind on = my previous statements that there had not been anything reported re any talks/discussions or bids made.

I agree on the price. People are saying £40m is a "banter" (ugh) bid but I don't think he's worth much more than that. I'm happy enough if we get him because he should offer a few exciting moments as a viewer over the season but I don't see it as a great use of £50m at all if we go that high.

Which is why I'd rather have Mahrez because he'd be cheaper, has better end product and doesn't block the likes of Nelson & Co.

City are selling Mahrez?
Links please.

Nah unfortunately there has been nothing of late, but there was some talk of him wanting out and not getting enough game time around when the FA Cup Final was played.

Mahrez is only a year younger than pensioner Brahimi.

Jeez!

Yeah my bad, I've been carrying him around in my wish list for a while now.

So long as they are capable / functional for a season or two until the likes of Nelson & Co are able to step up.

Well done for changing your position on whether you had changed your position in a hurry one minute after posting that you hadn't changed anything.

Hopefully this doesn't become a saga and we move on swiftly if palace hold onto their valuation. Feels like a bit of a hailmary effort

If we get this guy and have Iwobi and Nelson, do we still need Mickey?

Whatever  🙂

David Ornstein: Crystal Palace 'incensed' by Arsenal approach for winger. Palace believe Arsenal's method, in this case, is outdated and naive.

David Ornstein As things stand Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace to Arsenal not happening, will take major change(s) to materialise. Also hearing Napoli edging ahead in Kieran Tierney race but deal still there to be done. As we know cash the issue for #AFC this summer #CPFC #CelticFC #SSCNapoli

Well that was short lived.
