i really honestly still cannot comprehend all of this. this is literally the 4th different team the sixers have had in the last year.

the starting 5 is huge, but there are now zero elite shooters in the starting 5. everyone but simmons can shoot, but we'll need 40% plus seasons from deep from both harris and richardson on really high volume.

defensively we look awesome. and given that horford is embiid kryptonite, im glad hes here now. also means we dont need to overpay for a backup C, since hoford will play the backup C minutes, and he can hopefully help teach bolden how to defend.

according to Shams, this appears to be the warriors S&Ting KD to the Nets in return for S&Ting D'angelo and taking Shabazz Napier and Traveon Graham.

edit: people are saying that they will have to buyout/waive Igoudala to make this work.

this might be the most interesting move of the day, and thats saying something. klay isnt playing next year, so obviously curry/russell can co-exist in the same backcourt. but what happens in 2 years? they look to trade russell and get more assets? its a good gamble since durant was leaving anyway and they didnt have cap space to sign anyone anyway.

i would not be shocked if this is a 1 year rental. they were losing durant for nothing, now they have russell, and they know that given his age, he will be easily movable next year if they need to.

not really. golden state won their first title pre-durant with 3 stars and a lot of quality depth. when durant arrived, they still had good depth in iggy, looney and livingston. the lakers, if they add kawhi, because they havent drafted well and they traded away all their young talent, will only have their big 3, plus guys making the league minimum. and they've capped their potential to add young talent by trading away a ton of their first round assets. they might still win a title, but its not a given the way it was with the warriors

I think Durant is the best player in the world, but he must also be the toughest one to manage. Withdrawn, insecure, seemingly okay with letting others take charge but lashes out passive-aggressively when something doesn't go to plan. He couldn't get along with Westbrook, he couldn't get along with Curry and Draymond. If this Durant-Kyrie pairing is to win a title in Brooklyn they better get it done quick, preferably KD's first year back from this injury, because sooner or later I see history repeating itself again.

i dont think there is any real worry about durant's aging curve. his best comp, in terms of his profile, is someone like dirk, and dirk aged gracefully. durant's entire game is predicated on his otherworldly shooting. he doesnt thrive in trying to cook guys on the dribble and get to the line constantly. as long as he can rise up and shoot, he'll age fine, because no one can defend his jumper, just like no one could defend dirk's fadeaway. durant is a better athlete than dirk ever was, obviously, which helps his cause too

regarding the personalities, its really kind of hard to know. as im sure everyone knows, making new, close friends gets tougher as you get older. its just a different mentality. for pro athletes, im sure its even tougher. he has an entire infrastructure around him, but its all a professional infrastructure. when you are one of the most famous people in the world, it must be difficult to develop close bonds with people, especially new people, because you'll never really know their true motives.
