Feels like a player who hit a good patch and has now fallen back on old ways. Has scored / assisted in only 3 of 16 games since January and his previous record does not fill one with much confidence. May be a good squaddie in my mind, but unlikely to take us up a level.

I see him as a welbeck replacement, assuming we let him go

5 days later

He’s not a great player, Dules. I’ve seen him a few times and I just don’t see the ceiling. Maybe I’m being biased because I cannot compare him to anyone in particular, and a career scout would be able to see the trajectory.

Isn't that a good thing?

Sorry. I wrote poorly. I see the ceiling. I don’t see the scope for growth.

Yes definitely want him. Scottish Ribery

I recon his work rate would prove infectious

Put off having seen him properly today. Dont want

In the space of a week.

Don't ever change dules 😆

He looked extremely limited today. They were up two players with loads of space to exploit and I didn’t see him once take on his man or try to do anything other than whip in a cross, and he only got in two accurate ones the whole game. No variety or diversity to the crosses either, and we don’t have a Giroud type where that would make sense. We’ve been crying out for a “world class” winger all this time. If Ryan Fraser is it, then i’ll be hugely disappointed.

I need to see more of him but today he looked like Stuart Ripley ie he was a throwback to wingers that played in the prem in the 90s. I don’t think technically this guy is good enough for us.

Wanting a world class winger is nice and all but with the amount of holes in our squad and the limited budget afforded to us you have to make do with a few players who are effective without being world class like Fraser.

There is a lot value to be had in someone who just makes the right choices and is capable of carrying them out. I think Fraser would be really good here.

I was actually impressed by his crossing ability, should have had 3 assist at least if not for some dodgy finishing. Top of the assist chart again, impressive

Looks more to me like the wing version of Theo Walcott.

Not enough value in his overall football for him to be worth our time.

I mean, he's been better than all our wingers over the past 12 months and he's only got one year left on his current deal. I wouldn't turn my nose up at him. Hell, we probably need him plus another to really shore up our wide positions.

Yes, but that’s an indictment on our wing options rather than a credit to Fraser. This is his break out season, at 25. He’s never shown form like this ever in his career. And maybe we take the punt and his cross only skill set doesn’t fit in to the way we want to play, or he can’t reproduce his form this season. Then he becomes another waste of money and time. I don’t feel we can afford risky signings right now if we are truly looking to take concrete steps forward from a Europa league side to a Champions league side.

If its for a reasonable fee i'd sign him.

I don't really see any issue with having his breakout season at 24. Secondly, we're at a position as a club where we need to act early - let us assume he has another good season (or better) then suddenly the likes of United and City will be swooping down on him - the tragedy of our current position is that we can't afford to be cautious but equally we will be burned with a few transfers, all our rivals have been and they move on. Thirdly, I think taking a functional player with Premier league experience and getting him to play in a system that works is what Liverpool have done really well with over the past 12 months - we can do something similar, particularly since we'll be signing players of a similar profile from other leagues. I certainly can't see us signing too many 25 year olds that are proven CL players because this is about as good as it's going to get until we get back into the CL places. Lastly, obviously it isn't worth signing him if we don't play to his strengths but that's true of literally any player so it's a moot point. We don't really know what our identity will be next season but - assuming Emery has a role for him - Fraser would be a good player.

You've decided this after watching him just this weekend?

He doesn't really dribble or beat his man though. Relies on off-ball movement and being picked out in space. That's an issue for me. We don't have players that supply quality forward passes, nor do we counter attack well.

I want the winger we get to be able beat his man. This creates space when our passing game inevitably fails

Lots of examples of him going on some mazy runs and beating his fullback. Not sure where this perception is coming from. He's not Hazard, but he's also not Theo Walcott.
