That will not work.

Lukaku is best getting on the end of things, although he can still be inconsistent.

His hold up play has been extremely poor. His touch falters under pressure, and then he will need to lay off accurately or pass and recycle. Poor use of him if that is what Juventus are planning.

I think Lukaku is gonna be a pure battering ram too. No idea how that will work out, but I don't think Ronaldo has been great business on the whole for Juventus if they end up losing Paulo Dybala because of it. They dropped down a level creatively last season, and a lot of it had to do with the way Dybala was marginalised to make room for Ronnie. Dybala's 17/18 season was better than Ronaldo's 18/19. He scored and created more, and he combined better all over the pitch.

The Ronaldo transfer was insane for Juve. I think it was ill-conceived and I’m a massive Ronaldo fan. They’ve had to sacrifice Kean and now Dybala for him. They could’ve been going after players like Jovic and Pepe quite easily and planning long term. Now they need to plan like Arsenal to win in the short term.

They've won the Scudetto some 10+ years running. They're all in on the Champions League, and don't believe Jovic/Pepe/Dybala/Kean to have the capability that Ronaldo does in a cup tournament. I think there's some sense in that approach, because it's not enough to be a solid team to win the CL...you need proven match winners.

Real Madrid won it three years in a row, during which they weren't an exceptional "team". Instead they had the likes of Ronaldo, Ramos and Bale to bail them out.

Saint-Maximim is a good gamble for 18m. Newcastle signing some very smart players after Rafa left to coax the fans
