Same would be amazing for us. Shame we have the owner we do.

If true, his character goes right up in my estimation.
Uli Hoéness, urgh!

It detracts nothing from his character, but his aversion towards Bayern surely has more to do with the fact that he's a Schalke product and fan.

Like this guy?

Exactly 😆

Neuer is so vile that even the Bayern fans despise him. He's got some kind of agreement with their ultras, which was a condition for him moving there, that he's not allowed to kiss the badge, celebrate in front of them, etc.

Love it

Schalke and Bayern dont even have any special kind of rivalry like the former with Dortmund or the latter with Nürnberg, it's basically just Neuer and the arrogant Bayern brass who caused the whole situation between him and the fan groups

We need an overhaul.

I am sick watching this unfold in front of us. Infuriating

I’m not convinced by Ndombele. Clearly has a fair amount of talent but I don’t think he’s elite

Been fearing this news all summer. He must not end up there.

Reminds me of Appiah.

Clearly athletic but he’ll turnover the ball so much.

i was just coming in to post that i'd been hearing murmurings about ndombele going there, and then i see that

just like you'd think there would be a forest of top clubs preventing the shit from reaching a CL final, you'd think there'd be a long queue of teams wanting ndombele. but no, it looks like they'll get him

we should've signed our nbombele in the summer of 2013, but we blew our stack on a status symbol. the doddering arsene and limp dick ivan era really puts what spurs and liverpool have done into perspective

Really pissed off if they get him. You just know he'll end up tearing it up for them and end up leaving to go Madrid or somewhere else for over 100m making the signing really a no brainer. Ndombele is pretty much the complete midfielder and the one player I would have blown our whole kitty on to sign.

We have a 40 million pounds transfer war chest.

I refuse to live in a world where Spurs have Ndombele and we've got Xhaka entering his 4th year in our midfield.

Exactly. For only 65m as well? This is nuts if we aren't involved in this signing. Ignoring his on field contributions for a second, just the sell on value in a few years alone would be worth it.

This is it. I actually don't give a crap who they buy if we're buying talents like Tierney, Saliba and Szoboszlai, but if we're still having to suffer Xhaka (and Mustafi, Mkhitaryan etc.) next season whilst they have Ndombele then that's a different thing entirely.

We can't buy every good player that comes on the market, but that's just taking the piss.

I saw that OL were interested in Thiago Mendes from Lille, but they want him to replace Toussart instead of Ndombele. I think Mendes is a player we should look at, he was one of the best CM's in Ligue 1 last season.

65m and we are not even in for him? So disgusted with the state of play in football nowadays.

Ndombele is one of the few talents I’ve really wanted over the last 2 years. To see him go to Spurs is just confirmation of how the pendulum has swung in North London. Be under no illusion. Three years for them in the Champions League while we fuck around in swill is exactly that. They will be thought of as a big club by 22 year old players and we will be seen as also rans. And we no longer have a financial advantage over them as well where we can course correct over time. This could be the new normal if Emery and Pochettino stick around. Just fuck Gazidis.

I wonder how much Aouar will go when the time comes.

Fucking hell

Why isn't Madrid or PSG etc buying Ndombele? Stupid idiots disappear when we need them.

He is one of the surest star out there. Absolutely world class CM

juve and real seem to be dicking around with other priorities like pogba

city have a wealth of options already

united are in a state of europa-induced flux

barca have made their big move for frenkie

atleti have made their big move for felix and have decent midfield options already

PSG - beats me. they seem to be destabilised by the neymar situation

we are thrashing about in a pool of our own excrement

spurs basically have an open field

i'm actually steaming about this as much as them making the CL final. there was already a small gap between us, if they make all the right moves and we fuck up again, that gap will become a chasm that won't be bridged for 5 years+. fuck wenger, fuck gazidis, and fuck stan. pricks stood watch this all unfold

PSG are signing Milinkovic Savic from the looks of it

I won't sweat Ndombele to Spurs until it's done

And when he does sign for them I'll call him shit and say I never rated him

Wonder how many more seasons of this awful, ugly football landscape combined with things going well for our rivals/Spurs while we decline due to negligence/a scumbag owner before I stop following football.

Raul, you can halt this.

I’m probably a season away. May sound mercenary, but we don’t have the assets or capabilities to compete. Without a top manager and if we don’t organize ourselves on the technical front, I barely see a point. Empty seats in the stands. And in living rooms. It’s coming.

I haven't seen much of Ndombele, but from what I've seen he looks like a decent player, but not much else. Don't think he'll improve Spurs that much.

But, it is interesting to see that Spurs are able and willing to splash out £65 mill on a player right after their stadium is done, and in spite of the escalating costs. We can talk about why this is happening all day, but fact is that both Liverpool and Tottenham appear more ambitious than us. We are about to be left behind unless something changes.

Because they will probably sell Eriksen for 100M. They have always been smarter than us (who hasn't) at selling players. It's just that their buying (and coaching) have caught up in recent seasons while we still live in the 90's on that count.

They didn't spend a single penny last season. Their net spend is also lower in the last 5 years than anyone in the league.

It's actually strikingly similar to our stadium move phase.

And yet they finished just a point ahead of us and haven't won a trophy in over a decade.

Seriously, Tottenham is not who we should be aspiring to 'catch'.

I agree with you that we should be aspiring to Liverpool and not Sp*rs. However, this whole trophy argument is bizarre tbh. People said the same thing about Klopp never having won a final etc etc (of course, he has Bundesliga titles under his belt, so not exactly the same). One way to put it is that they finished just a point ahead of us. The other way to see it is that they have finished ahead of us two years in a row with lower spend on the squad and a significantly lower wage bill (which is the primary driver). While I agree that can't be the aspiration, I would disagree with the "just a point ahead".

Equally, this is the most successful Tottenham team in at least five decades whereas we're at our lowest point since the mid 80s. From an objective view, if this is the absolute worst it gets for us and the best it gets for them, I can live with that.

The real worry we have is whether the club is on a downward trend - and that's a problem regardless of what Spurs do.

We should aspire to be Arsenal ffs. Liverpool have won a CL due to the most embarrassing downing of tools of Barcelona and their last league title was witnessed by less than half the forum. How do you not feel shame saying stuff like aspiring to be them? Shades of Ox wanking Gerrard off on camera
