All I'm saying is if you think he was off form having scored 22 PL goals at a rate of a goal every 124 mins (only bettered by Aguero) and winning the golden boot then I shudder to think how many he'll score when on form and in a functioning team. Yet somehow you think he's not all that. Strange.

His form has varied, but no player is great for 38 games a season. We have to look at his total contribution, and it's great. We should also consider that he hasn't played in his natural role for parts of the season, although I don't blame Emery for that since we have two great strikers and it's not easy to accomodate both of them.

We produce very few chances for Auba, especially when games aren't going our way. It amplifies the sitters which every other striker also misses every now and then.

IMO he's not as user friendly as Lacazette in terms of our style, however his impact in terms of goals is likely to mean that the club will more likely look to retain him & then accept a market value offer for Lacazette.

EDIT - and a well deserved congrats on his Golden Boot. I don't think we've had the same sort of goal scorer since Wright, as TH14 was in a class of his own, even if PEA has been referred to being the closest thing to him (although I think Mbappe may now hold that title).

I think Laca has more in his overall game whereas for me PEA is simply a goal scorer.

Laca is nowhere close to Wright in terms of finishing.

He's decent but his finishing isn't completely reliable and he takes a while to sort his feet out.

Wright as a finisher was way above though probably lacked Lacazette's all round play.

Auba is much more comparable to Wright than Laca. Laca is basically a more rounded, consistent and complete version of Giroud.

Laca is underperforming in terms of goals IMO. Partly for no fault of his own. In the 1st half of the season Emery was either benching him or taking him off early (depriving him of the opportunity to score late in the game, which most strikers do). Starting him consistently could see his goal tally improve as he'd more relaxed,confident and not get over eager to score inorder to win a place in the starting line up. Handing him the free kick and penalty duties could increase his goal tally even more.

does anyone have the stats for how they performed on a goals/assists per minute basis when on the pitch at the same time and when it was only one of them on at the same time?

A functioning midfield would improve his tally just as much as it would Aubas if not more. He constantly drops extremely deep because we cant get the ball up in a meaningful way

Good question but it doesn't take into account the last few games when Emery seems to have worked out how to play them together.
Most of the season Aubameyang was played wide when they were both in the team making it all the more impressive that he kept up with Aguero, an undoubted world class striker.

Both of them are performing as expected, nothing special but nothing less.

Aubameyang 22 goals on an xG of 21.63
Lacazette 13 goals on an xG of 13.17

not one header surprisingly. he's pretty good in the air as well

he's had 2 brief fallow periods this season. One earlier in the season which was covered by lacazette, and one during the last 2 months.

he seems to have come to life in the last 2-3 weeks, which bodes well for us in the final

He's in the same tier as Giroud. He's fortunate that Aubameyang has arrived to share the load and spotlight with, otherwise the fans would have been on his back very quickly for his lack of goals. Much like Giroud, he is incapable of generating sufficient chances for himself during a game.

Laca is like at least one level above Giroud, please don’t discredit our number 9. Laca is a natural born finisher, you can’t say the same about our former number 12.
