Personally, I prefer Lacazette. But I can't argue with Auba's goals. So glad we have both.

Hopefully Emery can add a few pieces to the squad in the Summer to compliment them. A proper winger and a good attacking RB would make their jobs much easier. Would also be a big boost for us if Özil started consistently playing like he has the last few weeks.

I didn't say it matters but I'd rather have a more rounded player. Man Utd did win the league with RvN but they also became a much better side when they sold him, likewise Bayern improved when they sold Luca Toni.

If you want my honest opinion I'd sell Lacazette as well and start all over, considering they cost us £100m I'd say we got a pretty bad deal. Problem is I don't have that much faith considering our recent transfer business we will find anyone much better. We ain't gonna attract the top tier players but I'd expect more for _£50m per player.

How much have our rivals been buying fully developed strikers for in recent years? These would be Morata, Jesus and Firmino and Lukaku. How much do these guys cost and what are they delivering?

Would only take Firmino from that list, and I'm not sure he's much (or any) better than Lacazette. Rate both of them though...

Great point. Its all well and good saying we should upgrade on players who who are you going to get who'll be better than Laca and Auba? To me they've both had really good seasons. Auba with 17 goals and 6 assists (same as Kane but in less minutes) and Laca with 12 goals and 11 assists. You wont have any easy time find new strikers who give you more.

Really they are the most effective pair of strikers in the league. Aguero may be the top individually but that has meant Jesus has done very little. Of all the areas in our team now, our CF are by far the strongest. Definitely not something to be looking at this summer.

Unless you mean you want a rounded striker who scores with the same or near the same frequency. Who's that though? Mbappe? Neymar? Any other pipe dream that comes to mind.

Honestly though this is football manager stuff.

Changing our striking options is probably the last priority of the summer after-

Getting a top CB
Getting a winger
Getting a CM
Getting a back-up goalkeeper if Napoli doesn't sign Ospina
Getting an LB

Bayern also brought in Mario Gomez to replace Toni. Gomez is quite prolific but 'rounded' wouldn't describe his attributes.

I find the debate a bit weird. We have two goal scorers for the first time in years. You make them the first two names on the team sheet and build the team around them. Plenty other areas of concern in the squad currently!

I wonder if he might have more longevity than people think. He's more Inzaghi than Henry. Even when his pace slows down I think he could continue poaching goals for us.

Much will depend on if we qualify for CL, how much transfer revenue we have available, and how much work needed to be done in the market to produce a team that is balanced and fit for purpose for any formation or style.

ATM we are starting to look good in the 3412 / 3421 in the last 2 games.

Yup. That's what he's about. With his recent poor form he was failing to find the runs which gave him a dozen goals this season. The Rennes game sees them back, along with the requisite missed sitters.

Everyone misses clear goals. It’s part of life. Go ask Lukaku from the weekend. But getting yourself into positions near goals often will get you more goals. This is what Wenger used to preach with his 100 passes. What Pep does incredibly effectively with his motion offense.
We don’t complain about all the potshots guys like Xhaka take, which are even worse in my opinion, because they prevent us getting the ball in 6 yard area.

Obviously, but Auba misses more than he should. Still, the calls for him to be sold are way over the top. He's the best striker we've had in years, but the way he misses many easy chances is still one of his weaknesses.

Yep. If he is more clinical his goalscoring stats could be pretty insane. It's probably a concentration issue and key moments, lack of composure.

I just checked the stats and he has taken far less shots than Kane in the league. Auba with 75 and Kane with 93 yet they've the same number of goals. Aguero on one goal more has 95 shots total. Salah 17 goals, 104 shots! Hazard 13 goals, 76 shots.

The idea that Auba misses more than his fair share is just a perception bias caused by being more invested in his shots.
