Even at Dortmund he was rarely dependant on pace for his goals. He's more Van Nistelrooy than Henry.

Van Nistelrooy was a very different type of striker. From memory, so i could be wrong, his first touch was always towards the goal and he used close control much more than Auba.

The signs are looking good for him to step it up even further based on his current form. Looks like he's ready go explode.

I used to worry he'd have a big dropoff after 30 too, but I don't anymore. Movement's too good. If he doesn't pick up a bad injury (touch wood) he'll probably end up above van Persie on the all time top scorer's list in about half as many seasons.

Something just clicked for him in March (soon after the Tottenham penalty miss) because he's been fairly lethal ever since!

i agree. he'll have to make some adjustments when the defense doesn't 'stay beat' by his runs, which is an advantage he has at the moment. i think he'll still be super-productive for at least 3 more seasons

he's been one of my favourites since his first break-out season at dortmund. still so stoked i get to watch him play for arsenal every week

Once he moves back to the wing, he'll still score but he'll have a fairly lengthy stretch of poor performance once he runs out of gas.

Rather stick Laca out wide than vice versa. Auba is the hottest goal-getter in the league right now.

What's unfortunate is the two not looking like a strike partnership after playing together for over a year.
At the very least they should be co-ordinating their runs to open up the defence and create multiple options for our wide players.

I think by design, as Emery favors interplay between wingers and fullbacks more so than wingers and CFs. Seems the idea is to draw the opposition out, break the press down a wing, winger to send in a FB, FB to cross to CF/backside winger.

Laca is too slow to be playing as a winger.

Like I said, we need another proper winger and put Auba up front.
