  • Monchi rumoured to be appointed Arsenal sporting director

The guy is reliable for Sevilla news it seems and the fact is Monchi today claimed he picked the best sporting project that is offered to him, basically hinting our package and conditions to work in is not as favourable.

He's obviously going to say that. He is not going to say 'I joined Sevilla because if I joined Arsenal I would be going outside of comfort zone'.

Monchi signing a contract wouldn’t rule him out joining Sevilla.

Anyway let’s close this thread.

Signing a contract with us obviously means hed be breaking that contract if he then decides to go to Sevilla. It happens but usually people don't do it because it's a bad look, also he might not even want to move there if he fully commits to Arsenal.

Until he would start on the first day he would not be breaking any contract.

If we offered a serious salary he probably would have signed before Sevilla's manager was sacked which in turn necessitated them re-signing Monchi

Sounds a bit presumptuous to me, there could be all sorts of reasons why he'd delay signing, not least because he's not that keen on the overall package, maybe Roma has left a bitter taste?

Yeah - I doubt Sanllehi or Mislintat would come cheap either. I know it's easy to scoff at Arsenal trying to be cheap, but doesn't sound like the real reason here.

Of course he would. Handing in a signed working contract means you're legally bound to its terms

Did you applaud Fabregas, Henry or Vieira for leaving their comfort zone?

I'm just playing devils advocate here the explanation in those tweets might well be fabricated. On the other hand he'll probably have known for a while that he's about to leave Roma, we've been interested for months while Sevilla haven't needed a new director of football until like two weeks ago. We could have possibly forced his hand with a competitive take it or leave it offer

They all went to clubs bigger than Arsenal. Sevilla is not bigger than Arsenal.

So if he ditched us last minute for Madrid you'd have been fine with it? You're holding it against him that he moves to a club because he cares about it and not because he wants more money and trophies?

Sometimes you write some sensible stuff and I wonder why you're at -38. Then you come up with stuff like this

Henry left Juventus at a time when they were the best club in the best league in the world, and he came here instead. He did pretty alright with his lack of ambition all things considered.

Overmars just signed a new Ajax contract. Fucking excellent the way things turning out.

Internal promotion it is.

We fucked up letting Sven go.

😆

Why do I get the feeling this is all about how little we are going to be willing to spend.

I only hope that may be the case only until we get the wages and commercial revenues sorted, and then we put our big boy pants on & start behaving like we have a pair.

Were going to break even as usual. It's not a matter or pants.
Sure deals will go up. And other clubs get those improved deals aswell so players wages go up as a result.

We'll have money but not an obscene amount.

IMO the 'traditional values self funding policy' is little more than a comfort zone to hide behind, as an excuse as to why we do not compete amongst the elite in terms of titles and silverware in terms of our position amongst the top10 clubs in terms of revenues (9th) and value (6th) .  It's passive, self induced, lacks ambition, self fulfilling and it's BS.

I'd perhaps have more tolerance IF we reinvested those revenues directly into the team, and then aggressively sought to maximise our revenues on and off the pitch, but we don't - as a football club we generate financial profits FFS.

We don't have investment so we have to break even. It's that simple.
