Can confirm that #PSG midfielder Christopher Nkunku is still hoping to seal #Arsenal loan today. But as it stands the two clubs are worlds apart on valuation of buy option. PSG want significantly more than the €20m offered by Gunners

Like it matters to the bent fucks

Found it interesting that the club's official statement upon the signing of Suarez said that he becomes "the first loan signing of the window" or something to that effect. This is almost as bad as bib theory or reading into team photographs, but hopefully it means they are hopeful of getting a second one in.

China clubs spending big again. 120m for Belotti rejected, 110m for Immobile rejected.

Two other big signings completed though, Fellaini to Shanghai and Yennaris for Beijing.

If Bennacer's 12m Napoli deal go through, we will get 30% of that. Good deal although he has been pretty impressive in Serie A.

Bloody hell, I had forgotten that Bennacer ever played for us.

How much are United getting for Fellaini.

Why won’t China come in for Jenkinson and Lichtsteiner?

Rumours of the fee being between £7-10 million. I'd say that perfectly represents his true value over the last 5-6 years.

Who? When?

flobs: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isma%C3%ABl_Bennacer

He came as a highly rated youth player. No idea why we sold him after just two seasons. It looks like we had a buyback clause though: https://metro.co.uk/2019/01/31/arsenal-invited-match-napolis-transfer-offer-ismael-bennacer-8418831/

Arsenal have been contacted by Empoli to match Napoli’s offer for midfielder Ismael Bennacer, reports say. Bennacer joined Empoli from Arsenal in 2017, but the Gunners inserted a buy-back and sell-in clause in the sale. Gianluca Di Marzio.com Napoli have moved to sign Bennacer before transfer deadline day, and Empoli immediately informed Arsenal of the £10.5million bid.

It's too bad we don't have any January funds because I would have taken that deal.

Heh, sounds like they're just happy to get his wages off the books.

What are the chances of signing Nkunku?

Give or take 0.8%.

But maybe it's because I'm hungry.

That’s a very small pie.

Udinese signing Tom Huddlestone.

What.

Speaking of pie....

This has been a depressing transfer window. Miss the good old times when we were chasing proper players like Subrata Pal.

What a waste of time this was.

We ain’t going to finish top 4 with current squad.

Why not?

Chelsea appear to be in disarray

United though rejuvenated have a very tough set of fixtures. If we beat them at The Emirates we’ll be in a good position

We are top 4 now. What’s going to change that situation in your mind?

We are fourth now but could be 6th come Sunday nite. Ultimately Man Utd have a better team and squad than us and thus will finish higher than us.

Had we signed Carrasco or even Persic this could have made a difference and got us over the line.

It’s on the board/club when we don’t finish on top 4 unless of the unlikely situation we win Europa league.

Stop being so negative mate.

We should have tried to sign Trabelsi to cover our right back injuries.

Speaking of former youths Havard Nordveit to Fulham could happen.

Don’t tease me like that

———Casameiro——-
—Torreira——- Douzi—
Suarez—————Iwobi/Auba
—-——Laca/Auba———

Good by me if we could sort out our defense.

10 more minutes. Plenty of time.

Looks like it went through:

He plays in defensive midfield nowadays doesn't he? Maybe Chambers will be used as a defender again in that case.

i remember we were heavily linked with him when he was on the fringes at real in 2014, but then zidane put him on the map

casemiro and torreira as a combo has plenty of bite. plug in a brilliant creative midfielder with them an you have a good midfield

Apparently, Barca wanted to include Malcom but the loan amount was too expensive. We are in financial dire straits. This is probably why Sven left. This formula can only work for established players. Would have been hard for him to go and buy, say, Mancini for £20m.

We really need to clean house this summer. Not that our wage bill is particularly high, but every last player we can shake like Jenkinson, Ozil, Elneny etc needs to go to create space. Not re-signing Ramsey, even at half his Juve price makes a lot more sense now.

Ozil, I read was approached by PSG for loan and he turned them away...

This idea makes me chuckle. Aren't we the only club in England, may be Europe, to have reported a profit in each of the last 10 years?

That notwithstanding, our billionaire owner should be able to take a loss one year and fund the cashflow.

It’s a nonsense idea in my opinion. And it’s just Ozil on 350k that’s the problem. So what if instead of Ozil we had two players, each on 175K. Or, what if Ozil was actually consistently playing like a world class player. Would there be complaints about his wages then? Would we still be hearing this talk about us being the paupers of the premier league simply because we missed out on Champions League once or twice? I don’t buy it

A lot of our profits have come from either property sales and / or player sales. We should be aiming to make a profit based on ongoing commercial activities - tickets, jerseys, sponsorships. The player profit model only works once we have a good brand of development, whereby successful young players are seen to emerge and thrive here. For that, we need more Guendouzis, Bellerins and Nelsons to succeed.

Our billionaire owner ain’t funding shit. He’s the wrong kind of owner for football. He should stick to American syndicates

Objectively looking at it right now, it doesn't matter where the profit came from. We should be able to absorb a loss after years of having the P&L in the black to increase the probabilty of qualifying for CL and improve revenue hence. A self sustaining model doesn't preclude a year or two finishing in the red.

The point is it’s not intrinsically self-sustaining. It needs us to sell. And we don’t really have saleable assets, aided by our penchant for letting good players run out their contracts. Of the top clubs, we probably have the lowest assets in terms of playing staff due to a combination of lower cost of players, letting player contracts expire, and buying older stars than say City and United.
