Nobody should have died. Totally unnecessary loss of life.
Democracy, though, should be made resilient to insurrection, but not necessarily to prevent it entirely. Maybe there will be some silver lining if these political-class types in Congress are made to feel things more presently and less in the abstract. All they really experienced was a tiny taste of the instability and violence they cause for billions of people all over the world. They aren't immune, nor should they be.
