Decided to watch a bit of Fox News. Seemed normal for about 20 minutes, just a right version of CNN. Then they brought in a lawyer who went off on conspiracy theories about Democrat-run cities like Philadelphia manipulating the vote and denying access to Republican observers.

Militairy ballots are still arriving. Historically the military votes right, but I've seen quite a few exit polls this year showing it far more 50/50. In Georgia CNN's exit poll being 60/40 for Trump, though that doesn't take into account any shift tied to those sending mail in ballots.

Yeah, I was watching and thinking it was quite tame. They were fairly constrained and seemingly accepting of the election results. Then they cut to Eric Trump, and well, that was enough for me.

I think given the unusual behaviour of this president and the slight unpredictability of the vote given the different sources of ballots, the news media (who typically lead the way) want to hold out as long as possible to make sure that there is little doubt.

It takes away the drama, a bit like VAR, but it is the best approach

what are you talking about? the senate is elected by the people, the people in that state. and the president is also elected by the people, it's just that we don't have a real national election, it's 50 individual elections and each states has an electoral vote total that is in proportion to their population. the problem with the senate isn't how they are elected (no beef with that, it's the fairest national office election we have going, no gerrymandering and majority rules) it's that every state gets 2 of them. there are like 7 states that have more senators than congresspersons (determined by state population). california has as much power in the senate as wyoming.

btw, in another one of those gaming the system things, if this election was tied in electoral votes it would go to the house of representatives to decide, but the dems control that you say ... nah it's one vote per state delegation and while the democrats have more reps, the republicans have reps from 26 states. so trump would win a tie.

all of this is by design and like all american ills can be traced to slavery.

Yep it’s a real problem in State based democracies. Senators should be elected on a proportional axis of population.

Really all constitutions should be overhauled every 50-100 years.
