Like it or not, 5th place, our points tally and an EL final are tangibly an upgrade on last season. It's not the degree of success we wanted but such is the rot Wenger left behind and the size of the challenge. I'm by no means an Emery fan-boy but feel it's difficult to dispute that. We can (and do) complain about the defence, lack of style and the fact we're behind the Scum; all reasonable grievances. But I can't fathom how anyone thinks we were going to right all the wrongs in one season, particularly given the issues behind the scenes and the increasing shift in control of the club towards Kroenke and others.
This season has made me sick but I feel the feeling of disappointment is really being exacerbated by the achievements of our rivals rather than the actual ending position. It's a long road back to the top, and perhaps it won't be Emery/Sanellhi who are able to take us there, but we've barely given them a chance and as I've said, the tangible facts suggest improvement so prepared to give Emery another chance. If we fail next season, then get rid but I think he's done enough to deserve another season.
