We are just as poor defensively and he's brought in Leno, Sokratis and Torreira? Our attacking is basically all on Kolasinac as well, he's as basic as it gets.

If you really thought our defence would get sorted in 1 summer with a handful of bargain buys, you're always going to be disappointed.

No denying it's shit but you need to temper your expectations on fixing problems that have plagued our club for a decade.

After we cratered around xmas, he managed a mini rally in march when rambo and mkhi came back from injury. I gave him credit for that

The way we've cratered again in recent weeks should give everyone pause imo. No-one playing well at such a vital juncture is a huge red flag.

The biggest problem Emery will run into, from now onwards, is him just not being able to motivate these saps to output the required effort for a title challenge. Whether thats a feature left over by Wenger, something trickling down from the board, the fans or the city doesn't matter. However much talent we have in the squad, our rivals will just outwork and outrun us over a full season.

If we had a manager who was ready to kick a boot at Ozil's well groomed head I think almost all of us would be shocked at what he and the rest of this team would be capable of.

This has been the worst 4 consecutive PL games I think I've ever seen. And considering the importance of them, it spells trouble for me, regardless of if we scrape CL next season. So the signs are worrying, and as things stand I wouldn't be against having a more motivational manager come in to build their foundation on energy output and aggression.

Maybe I watch our rivals too often. I switched over to United. And I watched Spurs yesterday. Watched the latest Chelsea curd as well. These teams are all shitting the bed the same way. There is something about these clubs struggling to deal with the physical rigors of competing in Europe and the League. They all look sapped right now. But over the season, they’ve also all been woefully inconsistent, losing lots of games and largely failing to impose any consistent style.

Chelsea shot out of the gate but got worked out and then Jorginho was vilified and marginalized. United started around Fellaini and then ran around Pogba, Rashford et al on the way to a new manager lift, before collapsing. Spurs have actually streaked around sorts of Son as false 9, but are 3rd having list a 3rd of their games (which feels midtable).

So I’m not going to panic after a season of Emery with Mustafi and Xhaka. I’ve seen enough to know that the biggest shift we can get is investment. Getting a better manager might get us another 5 or 6 points, but are we going to do much better than Pochettino and Sarri (1 point ahead?). It definitely won’t get us 15 points. And that’s what really counts at the end of the day.
