Remember when Leicester won the league? Take a look at the stats for that season. We would have won the league that season 99 times out of 100.

Not that I'd complain if we won the league in a similar manner to Leicester, but it's no way to build a club.

Are we perfect? Certainly not! There are still glaring holes in our game and our defending (and attacking) has room for improvement. And yes you're right in thinking I don't like the direction the club is going in under Emery, I was happy to give him a chance but I've seen nothing to change my mind. We play shit pointless football, defensively look as bad as ever and see no real progress in our performances. If you're happy to play shit and point at our extra points fair enough but seeing as we ain't gonna win shit any time soon I'd rather be entertained. He'll probably get us back to the CL and fair play to him for that but imo he won't do much more than that.

I'm overly critical of Emery because he serves up shit football and I don't think you can beat the odds forever. Of course getting 3rd or 4th would be a massive improvement on last season and I'd be delighted if it happened, regardless of who the manager is. Look at his track record and our performances this season though, I just don't see Emery taking us to the next level.

i don't agree that he serves up shit football. i think with a few better pieces the football will improve. i do agree that i don't think he's the guy to lead any future title charge. as i said in the thread when we hired him, he's mr. right now. the first step is getting regular CL football, and i felt he was capable of delivering that

he's very good at figuring out how to counter rivals. Not so good at taking on the unknowns / lesser teams.

I like that he analyses our losses and fixes them in the following match against the same rivals. Maybe he didn't have the players to do this for Pool and Citeh but he's shown he adapts vs Spurs and Mancs.

And we had games where we were the better the team but the opposition scraped a draw against us too. Spurs last week being a prime example. Or Liverpool when they came to the Emirates.

Exactly that. Our improvement relative to other clubs is impressive as things stand, obviously it would all mean nothing if we don't finish in the top 4 but it's all pretty positive currently.

When was the last time we were genuinely entertaining other than for the neutrals (as we found new ways to shoot ourselves if the foot)?

Likewise there are those who would want Simeone and I don't think entertainment is a word in his vocabulary.

I don't think Emery can be judged until he has his players and team that are able to play his way.

Any insight from those who may have watched him at Sevilla?

Up until around 2012 it was still the consensus that Arsenal when on their game played the best football in England. After that it's pretty much been City.

Also depends on your definition of entertainment, what might be entertaining to Jazz may not be to others. In which case we may be 5th and not playing entertaining football. The only definitive is where we finish in the table, the rest is all opinions.

I don't think Emery's brand of football is dull. I quite liked the little I saw of his Sevilla team. He also attacked Barcelona with PSG more than most other sides would.

I think the reasons it's come across as dour at times is because much of it has been dysfunctional, much like a lot of the football under Wenger over the last few years. His brand of footy should be more evident next season.
