We're not having every England thread descend into questioning where people are from and whether they can support England or Arsenal. Not saying that the discussion has gone that way here but if the Colombia thread is any indication then its eminently likely and that's not on.

You'd assume a disclaimer that people do not have to support whatever team or country is in closest proximity of their postal code wouldnt be necessary in a forum where about 99% of posters do not hail from Islington.

Knock out football always has a massive chunk of luck Arsenal have benefited themselves from such so that's how draws can go over numerous years. This time it's gone in England's favour but it only gives you a potential opportunity, you still have to earn the right to progress and that's what England has done.

Agree with the above, understand not having interest or wanting to support an international side but don't really understand proactively being against a team that you don't really care about.

It's ridiculous.
A lot of people that I know say stuff like "oh it's not the team it's the way the English media go on about it" as if getting excited and enthusiastic about progressing in the competition is somehow wrong.
People in Ireland holding on to this notion that being Irish somehow means being anti English - it's pathetic.

strange 'attempt' at the first goal. second goal was straight at him too though those are tougher. Didn't watch much of the game after. Yea sterling save was prime.

Watched the game at Silverstone right after qualifying had finished. Subdued atmosphere. Not a memorable game. Sorry Sweden’s run had ended. Looking forward to Wednesday

I couldn't agree more. Hopefully England wins the World Cup. The level of bitterness is totally unwarranted.

It’s pretty obvious to me. It’s a team filled with dickheads that most of us spend at least 9 months a year loathing. The only thing i can’t understand is why someone can’t see why international Arsenal fans wouldn’t want to see the mouth breather lift the biggest trophy in the football.

As an aussie, wanting to see the poms flop in football, cricket, rugby and generally anything they attempt has always been a thing in this country. I'm moreso wanting then to fail because of the level of spursiness in their team.

That said, england could easily win this thing now. I don't see any teams left that are lightyears ahead of them
