Watch City’s 4th goal yesterday. Almost the perfect example of how to build out from the back. We have possibly a better goal from a few weeks ago, but good to see another team that plays the system with real maturity. They create so much space for themselves and move with the confidence of all knowing where the next pace should be placed. Have not seen this sort of synchronization in England in a dozen years
By comparison watching CFC v MU last night and I didn't get the idea as to how CFC were looking to build other than by getting the ball to Hazard in the final 3rd.
I didn't see anything like trying to create overloads or to make the opposition adapt and creating space in the area. Must say I found it a bit underwhelming.
CFC and MC are well clear of the rest of the PL in terms of numbers of passes per game.Â
It was easier to see MU's approach with Mata looking to exploit the space behind the LB.
I thought Germany did a good job of it at WC14, and in particular I liked how the ball always travelled through all the players when switching flanks as opposed to looking to go long = keeps the opposition interested enough to chase the ball. Also liked how good the shooting opportunities inside the area were.
