The problem was the team got used to bouncing back because they constantly had terrible results to bounce back from.

Saw something (from Balaque(sp)???) where he said that Emery has learned to cut back on the duration of his 'sessions'.
He said that he spent an hour talking to the players after a loss whilst at Sevilla, but now the time is no more than 1/3 of that.

I like this.

I don't mean this in any disrespect to anyone, but there seems to be a lot a similarities to Guardiola in his methodology and his intensity.
Love that he wants to win and that he still understands that the game is more than just the manner in which you play.

We know that. But we weren't chatting about that in fairness. We were chatting about managers being repetitive to put ideas in players heads to the point where the language used frames their thoughts.

wasn't going to post this but I see there have been more posts in the 'respect' thread,
IMO shows how out of touch & delusional he has been for more than just the last 2 seasons
and more so that he has no respect for those who do not agree with his vision and philosophy

fuck him - so happy he's gone & I can't wait for him to become a foot note once we get beyond next season,
or sooner if things go well enough.

Understand your reaction Anzac.

Wenger's just had the longest tenure of any Arsenal manager, and one of the longest tenures of any manager ever. He hadn't won the league in well over a decade and hadn't won the Champions League full stop. He's had more patience than any manager I've heard of, one fan after another has pleaded his case to themselves and others for one year after another before finally giving up.

Go with a good grace and spare us the absurd and hollow remarks.

Compared to what? Did you read Mertesackers article where he confirms that players train for three hours in the am and then call it a day?

Hardly a grind to stick around after that to go over video and then some walkthroughs on the pitch to implement ideas. I'm shocked that's not the bare minimum considering how much money is at stake.

Had my mind already settled on Arteta with all the rumours, so this came pretty much out of the blue for me. Don't know much about Emery, but I'm hoping for the best.

Should he fail, meh, at least we tried. We can move on without too much hassle. We probably wouldn't be the same kind of predictable shit either, which would still be refreshing.

“I think everybody knows that I like playing through the centre. I hope that we can play with two attackers – that would be ideal. But if the new coach needs me on the wing, there’s no problem.”

How would that work with Mkhitaryan, Ozil and Ramsey? Could you accommodate all three if you had a Kanye type, or would he be overwhelmed? Clearly can’t work with Xhaka as well.

Interesting and encouraging. He's been known for being a little difficult in the past so I was slightly worried how he'd take to what seems to be the gruelling regime Emery will inflict.

Very happy we got Emery. Arteta is not ready for his job, would really like to see him get the Everton job or something similar to see if he could be good for us in say 3/4 years but no way in hell should a rookie ever get the Arsenal managers job.

Emery should be fun, I saw his press conference and he had a positive aura about him, must have taken balls to carry out the majority of it in English, and it was not just what he was saying it was how he was saying it which spoke volumes. It was quite uplifting and his appointment had given all us gooners much needed energy. Let's face it, like it or not, Wenger sucked the life out of this club. It's good and refreshing to go into a new season with optimism and hope for once. I am very curious to see how Emery does and how far he can take us.
