Is it contrarian to think that the majority of opinion on this is driven by relief that there's a change (founded on the oft stated belief that anyone would be better than Wenger) as opposed to any well founded conviction that Emery is the man to transform our fortunes?
No one can be absolutely certain that Emery will be successful but he has the experience at the top level (which I prefer) and the attention to detail we seem to have been lacking. I didn't have him in mind as first choice but soon as his name came up, compared to the others linked with us it was almost a no brainer.
Regardless of whomever was eventually chosen I am prepared to give them a chance to get their ideas across to the players. We still need patience though- It probably wouldn't be until next year before we start seeing any real sustained progress, and till his 3rd year before his team begins to look a real threat.
I am confident we will see some improvement in our attacking and midfield play and structure sooner rather than later.
