@Claud, Klaus. Seen, and agreed.

So, I'm leaning towards keep if and only if we have the budget to add, for instance, an Isco, and/or a Banega type.

This way we will not be solely dependent on Ozil for consistent creativity through the center

ozil had 65 touches.

laca had 41, auba had 31

This debate is never going to end till he leaves as many people cannot see past his wages.
The figure is incredibly high but that's on the club as they shouldn't have allowed him to run down his contract.
The fact of the matter is that it is done and dusted and no amount of caterwauling is going to reduce it.
His presence in the team is now, rightly, based on performance and i wouldn't miss him if we had a better alternative.
As shown by the past few months we don't as Ramsey, who i think Emery wanted in that position, refused to sign the deal presented.
I like how Emery says "I don't know the player's salary as for me they are the same ...".

He had 5.5% possession and 50 passes, its pretty good in terms of involvement. Compared to Laca and Auba he's more than both combined in those 2 areas.

Apart from his part in the first goal Ozil was decent yesterday. He stayed closer to the forwards and still managed to be involved quite a bit. Ozil could have games like that most weeks if he wanted, the talents there obviously but its all about application and we are lucky if we get 1 game in 5 where Ozil plays like that.

Mkhi is not a factor, for me.
He was simply a makeweight (not needed) for the Sanchez deal and is not even level with an off-form Ozil.
If RM offer Isco, i would snap it up in a heartbeat.

The margins are too thin this season in the chase for 4th vs Chelsea. We do not have senior playmakers on this team. With Mkhitaryan out, and Ozil gone, we would be down to Iwobi, Ramsey and whoever comes in. We will really need Ozil to find form in January if we are to remain interested as injuries pile up.

Whilst I am one who considers Ozil to be ill suited to the CAM role in Emery's style, I agree that he should not be sold unless he is being replaced with someone who is best suited to the role. In addition to Isco, I would also consider the likes of Fekir as perhaps another who is better suited to the role at CAM.

Since his return from his knee injury he's started 28 league games the last 2 seasons, whereas he started 34 in his last full season prior to the injury.

That is a nightmare i never want to re-visit especially when you consider the tackles the likes of Stoke, Burnley, Manu, etc are allowed to get away with by our refs.
That £65m can be spent on far safer targets.

Perhaps a case of comparing apples and oranges?

IMO Fekir is not a playmaker type & is more of a direct goal threat, whereas Ozil is perhaps the last of the artists of the pass types even more so than the likes of Silva and De Bruyne.

For mind a number of our injury issues were as a result of our style of play and passing under AW = waiting for a pass to feet with back to goal because we transitioned in numbers ahead if the ball, whereas now we are more direct and play facing towards goal as much as we don't. I suspect the more we eradicate previous bad habits in our game the less issues we will see from impact injuries.
Then we see Wilshere saying that he will not change his style so as to avoid injury which is/was a different issue.

The thing is the risk.
He is useless injured and reading the first article i posted is scary as hell.
I would prefer that money spent on a Sarr or better still a Koulibaly.

Although the article pointed out that there is no medical evidence to support concerns based upon the type of procedure or the time he took to recover being quicker than usual.
Then there are advances in surgical techniques and treatments.

At the end if the day if our medical and high performance teams were to give him a green light then I'd be fine with it - if not then we move on.

I suspect Koulibally is going to cost more than VVD so we aren't going to sign him, Dembele, Pepe etc any time soon because there is still too much work that is needed across all areas to be able to look to spend top dollar on quality in one player as yet.
