Giroud as a make weight in this deal I was OK with. Giroud to Chelsea hell no.

I reckon this could be what's holding up the deal. Girouds value, we can't give a player his age out on loan for free when clubs like Everton are happy to pay £20m for him. That's half a Malcolm. How much we like giroud is irrelevant. I'm sure if we gave ozil a £20m sign on bonus he'd be a lot more likely to sign.

Giving him to a direct rival has its own negative value though. Right now they are struggling because Morata is an and out and looking not 100% when he is playing. Giroud would solve that for them.

Him going to Chelsea would be awful as would giving him away for free. A team like Everton would be ideal.

Bild info: Aubameyang to #AFC is done with the announcement set to be later TODAY.

I'm gonna watch videos of him on youtube. Not a lot of work will get done today....

Giroud won't hold up the deal, they're in for Modeste as his his replacement apparently.

Batshuayi on loan to BVB is the latest rumour, but that depends on chelsea getting a replacement

Let's hope Peter Crouch has his phone on loud then! 😆

Guardian says agreement in principal as long as they secure a replacement. (like Sanchez to city in the summer)

Di marzio called this one in early January. Fair play, that guy has had the inside track on alot of premier league moves lately

I think Jan was the first to report this. Spot on again with Bundesliga news.

Fair play to Ballbag, he actually got one right.

Go on Arsenal, get Malcom too! Although the other deal is probably Evans.

Not the only deal being worked on

Happy Aubameyang day everyone

He's also saying we are going to auction off Giroud to the highest bidder.

To go from years of Giroud as basically our only decent striker to now having Lacazette and Aubameyang is quite a shift.

Basically the same info as the tweet.

Fair to say I'm pretty excited about this.

I just hope that doesn't mean Chelsea. Handing our direct rivals not one but two forwards in the same window would be the dumbest move of all time. We have a decent chance at actually getting 4th place now with the signings we've made. It might well be between us and Chelsea in the end. Any aid we give them is unacceptable.

Definitely. Chelsea are desperate. The only thing is theres talk of Batshuayi going to Dortmund so there may have been some sort of gentlemans agreement. Ballague saying there are a few clubs interested in bidding for Giroud though so if thats the case we should just block a move to Chelsea. I'd hate that way more than seeing Sanchez in a United strip.

I'd sell him to Chelsea for the right price, say £30m+ and if there are no significant bids from elsewhere.

He's 32 in the summer with 12 months left and as much as I love him, I don't think he'd do much for their game. I wouldn't hold it against him either.

Chelsea have turned into tight bastards though, they can't get anything over the line and I can't see them paying up anything near appealing enough for us to sell him to them.

Less width than Nicholas Lyndhurst but we don’t care

Arsenal can finally abuse pace on fifa

On the other hand, I'm glad Chelsea aren't competing with us for Auba. In fact I'm not sure why they aren't interested tbh

I can't believe we sold Alexis and got 2 great players like that. We are better off as well on paper.

Now all we need to do is to tie Ozil down and sign another wide forward/CB.

Still remember when Ballague broke this I just laughed it off

Seems like they want more of a target man, Dzeko, Giroud, Carrol etc.

Only reason Olly would entertain leaving is to make sure he plays enough to make the France squad in the summer..  Otherwise, I think he would be perfectly happy to stay (just as he did in the summer).  That said, I think he will be on the team regardless come summertime

I say keep him..  I still think he's useful to us.  3rd leading scorer for us this season (and will probably end up second, as Sanchez has now moved on, and he was only 1 goal ahead of Olly) and has only played a fraction of the minutes...

That's a good point about Giroud's playing time actually, what's the point in going to Chelsea if you're still fighting for a starting spot with their £70m striker.

Their £70m is always breaking and he's just one player. With the CL, league and cup they've a lot of games. He'd play more there than at Arsenal behind Auba and Laca.

We really have no need for a defensive forward like Welbeck anymore.

It's possible but why take the risk if your main concern is playing time ahead of the WC? I reckon Conte might be gone by the end of the season too so that's another uncertainly.

Looks like we mean business. Wish we were as proactive in the summer. This will be the best transfer window since our move to the Emirates. If we can get some freshness and physicality in the our back line it will be awesome.

Well I suppose its a club who can afford his wages and if he likes life in London it makes sense. I wish he'd take my feelings into consideration though.

We never needed him.
