If he really cares about the WC and at the same time wants to stay in London he should accept a salary cut and go to West Ham. This "I need to leave to play in the WC, but only if I can stay in London and only if I can keep my high wages" business makes it look like the WC isn't really that important to him.

Giroud himself was visiting a French school around Kentish Town about 3 weeks ago (for his daughter). I have this info from a friend's daughter who's a pupil in that school... it doesn't mean much, but at the time, he was definitely planning to be in London nex year !

I know I should be, because he's a brilliant player, but I'm honestly not that excited about this signing. I'm not convinced that adding a better striker is going to really fix any of our issues.

I think it’s a fantastic signing. Having a lethal striker is key.

Finally we have a striker who defenders will turn up and think “oh shit” as they line up in the tunnel

His pace will obviously help on the counter but it may also ensure teams don’t ply a high line against us which suits Ozil and our others down to the ground

im pretty much with you, i was one of the few rain clouds in the thread early on. here is how i see this:

positives:

hes a pretty good finisher
he has electric pace
sven seems to be taking charge on transfers
we decided to try and improve the team after selling one of our best players

negatives:

hes a central striker, and we paid a fortune for lacazette, who we appear to be giving up on already. but a sunk cost is a sunk cost, so as long as we can sell him for close to what we paid for him in the summer, then okay
auba is best utilized as a counter attacking player. we don't counter attack, or at least we haven't, consistently, for quite a while. im not sure how he's going to play with his back to goal and up against packed 9 man defenses
hes 28. i thought he turned 29 in january, but its not until june. still, hes 28. this is likely his peak. if he doesn't lose his pace in the next 2 years, then we should be fine, but if he does lose a step or two, im worried about what he'll bring to the team
i think we need a world class center mid (so we can play 3 there with jack/ramsey flanking the new CM) and a CB a lot more than we need a striker
he seems like a potential problem off the pitch

Who knows how it will work out, one thing is for sure is that I'm actually looking forward to our season again.

i guess we'll see. wenger didnt seem to rate him, hes given him the quick hook in almost every match this season, and he hasn't lit the league on fire.

Seeing how exhausted he looked at the end against Chelsea it isn't a surprise Wenger has been taking Lacazette off. His endurance will build slowly. I am sure we aren't giving up on him. I don't understand why we should worry about having two top center forwards when depth in quality has been one of the biggest problems at this club forever.

Aubmayeng can't play Europa League. We are aiming to win both - race for top 4 and Europa League. Even in the Premier League a strong bench is what we desperately need. There are enough games for both.
