In this case the replacement is ready made and probably negotiating a deal with Dortmund as we speak (Giroud). Makes me slightly more confident that we will get him. Whether he will work in this team is another question altogether. Alexis looks like he has fit Yted team like a fking glove.
Aubameyang
Meh. If Dortmund insist on 65m then leave them in their messy situation. No way he's worth that considering his age and his unwillingness to stay.
Would rather spend the money on a new GK and a new top class midfielder.
Closely following a football club is often very neat.
Other times it feels like you are in an abusive relationship.
Lately Arsenal have really gone all in with the latter.
Spot on Segway. Good news is they just now barely clawed a point in injury time at home to fucking Freiburg, can't be good for team morale
We should do another offer 45m + Welbeck just to fuck with them
Segway wrote:Would rather spend the money on a new GK and a new top class midfielder.
I'd much rather a goal scorer.
We are talking about a manager who refused to cough out another 1.8m to get Arshavin over the line. In the end his own agent made up the difference from his own pockets to Zenit.
This deal is really in danger now.

Please, this is real life their is zero chance in the world his agent gave away £1.8m. He might have wanted 4M for the deal and eventually accepted 2.2M but nobody signs a contract that costs them £1.8M.

The same one who refused to get Xabi Alonso because of an extra 2m.

I think it's clear that's what Clrnc meant speedy. Meaning he gave a portion of what he originally demanded from Arsenal to Zenit to make up the difference.

That's how a negotiation works. . . . you ask for a more settle for a bit less.
Agent fees werent as crazy back then. We got him for what 14M ish. How much did his agent want to settle for 1.8M less ? He must have expected an stupid 30%ish of the total fee that was never going to happen.
Yeah maybe. But even then Arsenal wpuld have either stumped up more to give Zenit what they wanted or Zenit would have had to lower their asking price. In the end Arsenal would not add anymore money and the agent had to forgo some of his fee to make the deal happen*.
*I don't remember anything about this agent and 1.8m from back then, just assuming what Clrnc said is what actually happened.
Apparently, Aubameyang was booed by some of the Dortmund faithful at today’s game. They’re readying themselves to lose him while you lot are resigned to not getting him. Where will he end up? Transfer purgatory?

I don’t think Wenger is very involved with negotiating fees and wages anymore.
Only if it doesn't work out apparently.
Wenger is definitely involved. The kind of power he has at the club doesn't just go away because Gazidis wants it to.
I'm more positive after Zorc's statement. I read it as "It's not too late for Arsenal", and that they'll still sell if we meet their valuation even though it's getting late.

No, we'll not make the top 4 by signing a midfielder and goal keeper instead of a striker.
I thought these guys would try to wrap this up on the weekend to give Dortmund time to find a replacement. I imagine they will make their final offer Tuesday in the £50-53m range as a take it or leave it.
Perhaps what is holding up the deal is how to treat Giroud and the valuation thereof. I imagine Dortmund will want a loan, with the lowest possible loan fee- maybe even zero pounds. And if we want to sell, we will give the highest possible valuation, maybe £25m. There could be such a massive swing in values depending on what the teams eventually decide to do with the parties concerned.
I think Arsenal should do a reasonable offer for Aubameyang and accept a loan on Giroud. That should end this quickly. It’s important to get Aubameyang for his quality and in this moment to arrest the impression that we are selling club.
There is this kid on Twitter (jack) who is affilated on twitter who is adamant that Auba will sign for us by wed evening. Apparently he has a relative who works for Arsenal.
*affliated with Arsenal fan tv
I imagine we will make it happen. I just hate last minute things.

Hopefully he ends up being right. These things swing round in a second though. Sanchez to city looked done twice, only for him to go to United at the last second. Even ITK's aren't ITK because things change so quick.
Conte doesnt seem to be having the best retationship with roman at chelsea. The Same thing happened with Jose when they fell out and jose needed a CB he gave him 2-3m to spend they ended up with that guy from bolton that gave cech the second skull fracture in training. Now they need a striker and they're been liked with Crouch, carroll ect. Seems to be history repeating itself. If Roman decides, chelsea could steal this deal at any second and he'd suit their style.
Ah, we're at the wry smile stage of the transfer saga
Do you trust “The Plug” y?
I do 100%
I suppose with El Neny becoming our new DM and Holding/Chambers our new Merte, he is our only target in this window and, even then, we are still at this stage with a few days left.
In "The Plug" we trust

Wenger's face looks like one of those cardboard cut-outs.
Also, he's been frowning for so long that even his smile doesn't look happy anymore. He's basically become this guy:
Kicker suggests it's a done deal. Giroud going Chelsea.
why the fuck would we sell giroud to chelsea
It's a WC year, he will now have two strikers ahead of him. He's 31.
yeah, so, sell him to some other club that isn't chelsea. send him to dortmund or marseille or sevilla or something. not fucking chelsea
Maybe he wants to stay in London...
Anyway this isn't the Giroud leaves Arsenal thread
Ornestin just posted.......apparently it's a done deal assuming bvb get a replacement
[Twitter][/Twitter]
Kicker also claim Dortmund are close to agreeing a deal to get Anthony Modeste from Koln (on loan in China currently).
It's happening, it was always happening!
Only thing is, there is a slight discrepancy between what kicker (done deal and giroud going Chelsea) and what orenstein had tweeted (only a done deal if bvb get replacement which could be Giroud).
Also love how Orstein tweeted 10 mins after kicker broke that news. He must have thought 'shit, these bloody Germans beat me to it'. I think Orsentein's ego took a hit.
Kicker doesn't say that Giroud is going to Chelsea ffs. In what possible scenario would we need to sell Giroud to Chelsea to buy Aubameyang?
Please read the kicker article properly
My body is ready.
